Hi, I am one of the editors of this story, and we have also thought about this. In my opinion, one of the reasons why WhatsApp hasn't become the "everything app" in the US is because Apple/iOS devices are very popular in the country, where as in much of the world, Android is popular thanks to the availability of cheaper devices. Apple offers a suit of apps and features, including Facetime, that's not available for Android users, which adds to the popularity of WhatsApp.

Hello alephnerd, Loved reading your insights. I am one of the editors of this story, and I was surprised when the reporters told me that most other tools (Google and Microsoft) did not allow African entrepreneurs to pay in local currencies. That does seem like something that can be easily fixed, if there's will. Here's hoping that all global companies make the playing field even for all global entrepreneurs.

Hello - I was one of the editors on this story. Here to say, thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts. It is indeed sad. We do hope our story revives some of the interest in these facilities that are ready-to-move in but empty. Maybe there are some Bangladeshi entrepreneurs or even a global company looking to build a remote workplace. These facilities could be a good place for them to put down their anchor!

Hi there, I was one of the editors on this piece, and I am an Indian so I completely understand your remark on the use of the word tuk-tuk. But there's a reason we used it in just one place in the story — RestofWorld has a global audience and in many parts of the world our readers don't really understand what a "rickshaw" or "3-wheeler" is. So we made this choice for their benefit. Hope that provides you some context... and, well, also... I am alive :)
