My main issue with these systems is that they tend to not be able to do anything beyond what I can do myself in whatever self-service portal is available. If I'm calling, it's because I need support beyond what the bot can probably provide, and it just becomes a matter of arguing with the robot to get to a human who can actually solve my problem.

Are you talking about Google TV? I haven't used that one, but I've used Chromecast 4k and was not impressed. It doesn't have a remote - or really a TV UI at all - which was my biggest gripe.

> Were you expecting a news article?

Yes, actually.

I can scaremonger straight people equally well, but choose not to. LGBT people are just the latest casualty in the nonsense "culture war."

For example, this: https://apnews.com/article/fact-checking-777442211945

People saw cat litter on campus, which is commonly used to clean vomit off of floors at school, and fabricated this outrage. Anecdotes are not enough to villainize an entire group of people.

I live in TX, the book-banning capital of the US, so not too far off from FL.

> This is pretty different from coming to school and telling 7yos about the sex party you went to this weekend and which gender you were identifying as when you went.

When has this ever happened?

> What people have a problem with are the folks who derive their entire identity out of that, and then greatly encourage the kids they teach to do the same.

When has this ever happened?

> The very obvious comparison here is a teacher coming to school and telling their kids, in detail, about their sex life or multiple gender transition surgeries

When has this ever happened?

Straight people also have sex parties. Why are we legislating against LGBT people specifically?

It was relatively common in school to discuss what happened over breaks, weekends, etc. to build conversation skills. Also, almost every k12 teacher I had would prepare a slideshow about themselves to present on the first day of class along with the syllabus. After all, you're spending a lot of time in that classroom as a k12 student.

Many teachers also have pictures of their family on their desks, as one might in their office at any other job.

Especially in lower grades, teachers are not robots that exclusively teach content from bell to bell each day.

What ad service? App Store ads? Those are based only on the actual search term.

> I cringe every time someone send me an email that says "I can meet at 10 PST" no matter what time of the year it is.

Why? An average person (read: non-developer) rarely needs to think about their timezone, save for when it changes. As a human, it seems relatively straightforward to intuitively determine whether that person is in DST or not.

If you were a UNIX machine (or a developer providing input to one such machine, I guess), it might be more appropriate to ask for a response in the Americas/Chicago format or something like UTC-0600, but it seems rather coarse to require that everyone adhere to your personal timezone standards when interacting with you.

Personally, I frequently schedule meetings with clients all over the US where their timezone isn't necessarily clear to me, so I usually just say something along the lines of "1045am CT," omitting the S/D in its entirety.

To be fair, my 300mbps connection is rarely ever actually 300mbps, even at times like 3am. I don't have access to a gigabit connection where I live, in a well-developed suburb.
