The largest disconnect between then and now, is the degree to which the internet was many things (telnet, ftp, usenet, finger, gopher, http, irc, mail, etc...), and not just webpages. Each with their own specific flavors. The article is trying to recapture that to a small degree.

Over time, almost everything has been compressed into this HTTP/HTML/JScript agglomeration. When the original thought was that there would be dozens of protocols for various uses, and a lot more client applications than the browser.

The best analogy I can think of is, imagine that plays(theaters), movies(bigscreens), novels(books), operas(concert halls), art(galleries), museums, etc... All disappeared in favor of delivering that content through games on your Xbox. All of that experience compressed into one method. Then the next generation says:

"Why would anyone miss physical art galleries? I can see art much faster on the 'Louvre 2026-season pass' on my Xbox? No travel, no walking, no lines."

FYI, the included cartridges in a new printer are typically a 'low capacity' type. This has been true for 20+ years. You may find yourself both spending a large amount of money, and generating a significant amount of e-waste if you pursue this strategy.

It is important to check consumable cost when buying a printer. They aren't all the same in this regard.

I'm a marxist as much as I'm an astrologist. It's easy to make broad statements like 'work should be meaningful'. Who would disagree with that? #4 might as well say "As a Libra you believe that specialization deadens the soul".

What a laughable article.

My question was posed more to highlight that we only see men as aggressors and women only as victims. If the situation was reversed there would be outrage at the man.

It's frustrating to see people justify that context though. I.E.'of course it's different coming from a man' Why? Do we really expect the most equal minded generation of men in history to take the blame for every other generation who wasn't?

Does history allow women to be given 20% more latitude than a man? 50%? Is there any harassing behavior that would be unacceptable coming from a woman? How much worse would it have to be?

What other kind of behaviors would you find unacceptable for a man but not a woman? Do you consider yourself a sexist?

My guess is this:

Male picture taker is excoriated for invading her privacy, and the posting the picture was 'intimidation'. She would have lost her job due to his 'abuse'.

Time for the bigotry test:

Lets reverse the genders. It's a woman making the sexualized comments to a friend, and a male attendee eavesdrops. Then he takes a picture her without her consent. Immediately posts said picture online. She loses her job.

What would the response be?
