We are humans, the greatest species on the planet. Even before industrialisation we lived on almost every continent ranging from scorching deserts to blizzard-filled snowlands.

Humans are the greatest adaptors to a given environment, even if the climate catastrophising ends up being true, we will survive.

How to be really optimistic?

Get away from the news, social media. Spend more time on hobbbies, family and friends. Do something for your community.

These things will make you happier

Totally agree. I've watched that channel for a long time, and while he's always come across as arrogant, this video pushed me to unsubscribe.

You couldn't be more wrong. Getting people excited about possible technological advnacements is exactly the kind of thing we should be doing, we used to do this, in the 50s up until the 90s the prospect of the future was exciting.

What is the medias representation of the future now? A burning shithole, no future. It's depressing and not true. I enjoyed the few days of excitement, I want us to go back to having an optimistic outlook on the future of humanity.

Probably means something closer to Kathleen Stock: https://www.theguardian.com/education/2021/may/22/kathleen-s...

If you commute daily (5 times a week) then you will see at least one terrible / dangerous driver in that time period.

Some weeks it can be really bad, several a day, some weeks it will be almost silent (but always at least one nutter).

The weather makes a big difference, for some reason drivers drive a lot worse in the rain and really hot weather, usually speeding / running reds and not checking mirrors more often than in overcast / typical UK weather.

And just like that, you've proven his point.

This guy doesn't run reds, I don't either. Apparently that's irrelevant because some cyclists do (and here's a bunch of anecdotes) so it's not a problem to harrass cyclists.

Right on!

I don't think I understand this concept.

If I search for something using Google, and don't click on a link, doesn't that mean my search was fruitless? What else do we mean by 'zero-click searches'?

Edit: Unless it's the simple '6 x 10' or 'What is the time in London', in which case, are we surprised these queries are handled by $SearchEngine? DDG does the same thing (albeit, uses a third party website and gives credit)
