Agree - there's nothing that stops you from asking for more. Even if you don't get it now, it sends a signal that you will expect more $ later.

But, if you are really satisfied with $30ph (if you don't have a better offer to fall back on), you probably won't get (much) more. Your weak negotiating position will inevitably shine through.

What benefit is there in saying this to baby Napoleon directly?

Then you have angry baby Napoleon directing Steve to communicate with you and nobody wins.

But there is no such thing as "permanent UBI", though.

UBI is a political decision which is renewed with every government.

The perspective of the participants makes sense. Whether they believe their access to UBI will continue or not, it makes sense to up-skill.

Besides, we do know how people behave when they are born with a million dollar bank account, and it's relatively very rare that they are criticised for how they choose to live.

Boycotting Coca-Cola is extremely challenging: they own a lot of competing "hydration" brands and perhaps even the manufacturing processes used by their direct competitors.

I know several people who think they are boycotting Coca-Cola but are extremely ineffective in managing to do so. Although Coke might be disappointed by the damage to their core brand, they might be less than disappointed when you choose their more profitable products as an alternative.

Good luck!
