1920's Prohibition was also quite supported by the local population, it was voted in...

Anyhow OP's point is regarding the efficiency of prohibition, not about support.

Keep thinking that way if you wish, but do not complain when your power users leave and your website turns to shit.

(related: not sure "impact" was the word you were searching for there)

> while testing showed it produced more power and better emissions, people beta testing for me reported it felt 'too smooth

How hard would it be to made that user-selectable? Because I would guess that some would prefer it that way while driving in the city.

Can you send CAN bus commands to the ECU?

> If you had a multi-day electric or gas outage in New York in mid-January, you'd see exactly the same thing happen.

No: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/January_1998_North_American_...

Multiple weeks without electricity for some, but only 34 deaths. (And in Quebec, most people heat their houses with electricity)

"Fun" fact: In Montreal, more people die in heatwaves than of cold. Unless you're a drunk hobo that is: because they are shelters in winter, but old people die in summer in crammed apartments without AC.

Talking about bad faith... you know you're replying in a thread about GitHub incidents where someone is blaming capitalism for that right?

You know how many minutes I "spend molding [my] previous cover letter to the job description"? 15 minutes. If you spend more than that, you are clearly doing it wrong.

No?

Madrid is about the same latitude as NYC. Paris is significally to the north of Montreal. London is about the same latitude as Calgary.

If you think gender is confusing, maybe you should consider that the problem is *you*?

Everyone knows that Manhattan and London's City are wretched hives of scum and villainy, of course.

I wonder who you think are those "globalist elites" and why are you against them?

(that's a rhetorical question, don't answer please)

> "Human behavior is economic behavior. The particulars may vary, but competition for limited resources remains a constant. "

That quote is discussed a length on this wonderful blog (like others said, it's from SMAC): https://paeantosmac.wordpress.com/2015/07/07/first-impressio...

From my comprehension of Mad Men? You hire a PR firm to convince those investors and decision people, to sell them an idea instead of KPIs.

It can go both ways, of course: Mad Men is full of examples of stupid business ideas that went spectacularly wrong. And while it wasn’t the focus of Mad Men, the real world is full of examples of business that went the metrics way and were successful.

But IMHO, if I was the CEO of a social media company, I sure wouldn’t focus on A/B testing and engagement metrics.

So the only solution to climate change is anti-capitalism. Got it.

Not true

How to tell me you're an angryphone without telling me you're an angryphone (and totally ignoring historical facts in the process)

Why are you trying to fight over what is the best for your kids?

Both have obvious benefits: Grimm Brothers tales are still culturally relevant for a reason, even if you can probably find useless brain fodder on Disney+; and video games can totally teach some stuff to your kids.

Just let them choose what they want I guess?
