A mix of English and French is just called... English

Whenever you see people complaining that the EU is "too slow", more often than not it's because they benefit directly from EU rushing things without thinking.

So do I but fair point

We did an 8 hour ride on a rental recently in Central Europe, mostly through major motorways. The car dashboard disagreed with (apple) maps which disagreed with the road signage so often. The beeping was infuriating.

I once looked up those TV codes and ended up factory resetting the TV just to jailbreak out of the hotel mode and use the Hdmi.

Can you imagine having a hobby and not trying to monetize it? I really think we've completely lost the plot.

Hotel TV's often have all inputs blocked out actually. It's really stupid.

I definitely recommend checking out all top games from this competition over the years. Quite a few gems.

So much happened since 2018 that this ruling feels ancient now. It was about Google making unfair deals with OEMs:

> In 2018, the European Commission slapped Google with the record-breaking penalty on the grounds that it abused Android’s mobile dominance to give unfair advantage to its own apps via pre-installation deals with smartphone makers.

While this specific problem is much better today, specially since of the DMA, things also got so much worse. And even if a new anti-trust ruling would occur today, we could expect it to drag on almost a decade again...

These efforts will also save a lot of old macbooks from the landfill in the future.

To me the cherry on top was that they started modifying how third party icons look to match the Liquid Glass. People started complaining to us that our app icon looked blurry because of it.

I was in school for 12 years and for 11 of those years I was told I was bad at sports. It was only in the last year of high-school that I finally had a PE teacher that actually tried to teach us that sports is about doing what we like and moving our bodies. I had top grades that year and finally learned that I liked (some) sports. Turns out I was just bad at football (soccer) which was what we were forced to do 90% of the time.

> the evidence is

I don't believe this. I believe us more tech oriented people live in a dangerous bubble that reassures us that obviously people are against it. But that's very likely not true.

> Web devs are used to their target being evergreen

Since when? The browser landscape is much better today than 10 years ago, but no web dev worth their salt assumes anything about the user agent.

While it's not part of the EU as a member, Switzerland is quite literally in the EU.

Like in any other field of Software Engineering, it's not the actual programming part that is hard.

Lots of tech used to work and was just deprecated because it's not profitable. Google used to have amazing features on android, assistant and maps, that are just gone now, and slowly coming back in gemini.

Batteries help, but they still cost way more than direct solar and wind. We still need way more solar and wind to use directly.
