Wouldn't it have been great (in terms of equity, leverage etc.) if you were at Google (search) in 2001-03 or Foursquare (location) in 2008?
What we are trying to solve:
- Given relevant experience, find and apply for a job in a field that's soon (within a few months to a year) going to be "hot."
- Given somewhat relevant experience, find and apply for a job in a field that will act as an intermediary to a future "hot" field.

LinkedIn, Indeed/SimplyHired etc. haven't concentrated on this problem space yet.

The mobile versions of FB etc. won't cut it if the next 5-10 years are going to be all about mobile. And thus the need for a true mobile-only social app or "social OS" pending already existing vertical data.

IMO, FB is extending its vertical with a mobile-only social app AKA the "FB OS."

This brushed generalization (notwithstanding how "funny" it may be) from both sides of the political aisle is what's wrong with this country.

And that's the point, Albert Shum, a Nike-alum and now one of the folks behind this UI, is making. It's less about chrome/gloss but more about typography. Personally, I like it a lot. The "WP7 version of" Metro-UI seems to be inspired by direction signs (for travelers) you see at airports, train stations etc. that help people find their way.
I'd go with a PhD program that has a Master's exist. (You will still apply and get admitted as a PhD student with full funding.) This helps if you're bored with the faculty, dept. etc. or a company wouldn't mind converting your internship to a permanent position.
