They must have solved coding that well.

Nice to see a bit of good news here, WSL is an underrated component in enterprises, and quite often the only way you can get close to Linux. Windows and Macs feel like trading one cancer for another with different logos.

Thanks for sharing this, such a shame it's not been seen widely enough!

Clickbait title, I feel the article version was a better submission.

A good way to work through that is by not framing people as free riders in the first place.

> I really wish there was an alt+tab replacement for window switching in iOS.

On Android it's a simple Alt+Tab to switch between apps; press it to bring up the current apps, then Alt+Tab lets you cycle through them too. In general Android is much more keyboard friendly.

> GitHub hasn't changed in any positive way since the acquisition.

It's more like any positive actions they have had are being outright dismissed or forgotten. They removed several restrictions that Github had over private accounts, as well as github actions. Aside from the downtimes, the Github of today is fantastic compared to pre-acquisition Github.

The navigation on the site needs work. Because the URLs don't change, it's not easy to go back to the list, except through a difficult to read link at the very bottom of the page. I'd expect a back button to work here instead of the hunting around.

Clicking one of the options performs some noop hollywoodism which could frankly be done without. If the results are cached just serve it right away?

The end results just seem to be jokey quips and a skills.md which attempts to describe what the company does. I'm not sure what the point of this is.

The toxic behaviour by hn commenters in that thread is absolutely shameful. Whether you feel strongly about it or not, there is a civil way to discuss things and that isn't it.

> GPU passthrough via VFIO is a manual bring-your-own setup — not yet packaged.

Can we take this to mean that GPU passthrough is planned? This would be huge especially for running Adobe/Canva software.

> iOS offers better privacy

No, it markets lockin dressed up as privacy. Convincing you that they are the same thing is the real magic here.

> Humans are not a good target for calm technology.

Exactly the opposite is true. I couldn't even understand the point or relation being made here as the article continues to emit further disconnected revelations and factual errors. I would suggest a human calmly read through the post and sense check it.

If you already have a gaming pc, then it's worth exploring as the cost of boredom is negligible.

Of course this is well known. Everything Microsoft does is for selfish capitalist reasons and everything Apple does is for altruistic philanthropic reasons.

Feasibility on commodity hardware would be the true watermark. Running high end computers is the only way to get decent results at the moment, but if we can run inference on CPUs, NPUs, and GPUs on everyday hardware, the moat should disappear.

Showing a rich interactive tui like this to 15 year old me would have me convinced I was in a fever dream. It's amazing how far they have come. Seeing debugging is kind of blowing my mind.

The contents of this post, in some parts, is somewhat alien to me. The need to pick a side, root for someone, and figure out a winner. It's very sports team like and detracts from the goals, effects and outcomes of the topic itself. It is entirely possible that there are no good and bad sides, nor is there any need for someone to win any kind of made up trophy.
