I recently found out that I'm a direct descendant of 3 families of Mayflower passengers. I'd like to join the Mayflower Society, but the process of researching 8 generations of ancestors will take a bit of time.
I'm really looking forward to digging into my ancestry. I've already discovered some really cool stuff and I see it as problem solving, research and correlation, all of which I really enjoy.
I have these often as well. Had one the other night where I was headed back to bootcamp at 50. Somehow convinced myself in my dream that I could totally do it.
I always wake up with severe anxiety and have to look around to make sure I'm not living in the barracks.
I feel really badly for anybody starting off today. The technology landscape is terrifying and it's really hard to know what to learn or even where to start. With a C64, you could master that machine inside and out very easily and while you were at it, really understand how a CPU works. It's amazing what they were able to do with a CPU with 3000 transistors (compared to the 50 odd billion in modern processors)
