>He turned sublime into the tool he wanted.

I think this also misses the point. Sublime just is the tool I want. I install it and I use it.

Eventually I may install a handful of add-ons via the baked in package control. But primarily it just is the text editor I want.

I have seen multiple people have their shadowbans reversed after I recognized it had occurred and alerted them.

Yeah. I've done w/ Fody, PostSharp, HTTP Handlers, ASP.NET Middleware, Castle DynamicProxy/Interceptors, Temporal Interceptors, and various custom framework interceptors.

I've spend a total of about 2 months in the Carribean. One of those being an entire month straight.

It's the convenience really, and the fact that nobody is in a hurry. Island time is real. You cannot be demanding. You can't really be upset at service. Most people are there to chill out, even if they are doing a job. Life is just slower.

This is good, IMO. But if you are a hedonically adapted/burned out western metropolis dweller, this culture shock could be distressing.

Not a lot, so you should make sure you give them generous raises and other incentives to stay.

Patrick is my youtube finance news GOAT. Hilarious and deeply detailed videos on some of the craziest shit going on in finance. If you're interested in the nitty gritty details of portfolio management, he also has a bunch of lectures at the beginning of his channel pre-"content creator"-era that are like sitting in a university classroom. Very good stuff.

Temporal.io comes kind of close to this with the ability to do queries, signals, and updates. I'm not sure it's a full unification though.

No, gains of productivity exclusively accrue to the owners of capital. Learn your place, human capital.

>It's funny how we forget about meritocracy as soon as the median American is threatened.

What meritocracy? This is a myth pushed to justify a kind of "just world" interpretation of our social ills. Nepotism is increasing, social mobility decreasing. To believe in meritocracy in the face of this is to deny reality.

I used to think this. Hopped to rider 4 years ago and haven't missed it except for .sqlproj development.

Companies have been gleefully touting that AI is going to put everyone out of work for years now, with all gains going to the owner class.

What did they expect?

I have a friend that is a junior in a security-oriented sys-admin/network engineer type role. They have been doing the job for only a bit over a year. No background in programming.

Their entire organization has been handed Codex/Claude and told to "go all in on AI" and "automate everything". So the mandate is for people that do not know how to code and have the keys to the castle to unleash these things upon their systems.

This is at a large organization with tens of thousands of employees.

I am waiting with bated breath for the ultimate outcome!

And then those companies can give them their due ~~bribes~~ totally free and unrelated gifts out of the goodness of their hearts to such illustrious paragons of American governance, as legalized by the supreme court recently.

I don't think they're going to struggle at all. It's quite clear.

I think you're probably vastly discounting the amount of childhood neglect wrought by social media addiction on both the parent and child's parts.

I would argue quite the contrary. NoSQL DBs got through their hype cycle and are now a standard part of stacks, but SQL (especially via Postgres) has re-emerged as the golden standard for the bulk of data needs.

Then you send a swarm and fly a few sacrificial drones them into the airplanes.

It's not a product where you are the user. Your attention is the product being sold to advertisers and the videos are a harvesting/production mechanism.

It is not in the interests of either YT or the advertisers to allow you to opt out of features that are proven to be lucrative for eyeballs.
