Internet centralized itself around few corporations, people don't want to selfhost/self publish websites, I have own devlog on github pages, and when I try to convince friends who do interesting things to start writing about them, its always "I'll just post on twitter" or "i'llshow some screens on discord" etc. Internet shrank in recent years greatly, with more and more dead places that are not updated being closed down due to hosting issues or simply lack of interest from original authors.
It gets sadder when one of corporation suddenly decides that whole genre of things is not welcomed and/or just simply pull the plug on certain functionality/content.
Same goes with old phpbb forums - everyone sits on various discords, and places-pockets of knowledge dies one by one, recently lot of 3d-design related people mourned closure of cgsociety forum.
Because smartphones give access to lot of distractions and content out of the box, and when you got your Atari XE or similar machine, you had 10 floppies with games and INTRODUCTION to basic - at some point you'd start writing it from pure boredom. Now you can infinitely scroll social media and never had a glimpse of thought about doing something by yourself.
Yes, I've worked in multiple indie teams on various titles, I'm doing gamedev professionally, as well I'm solo dev making sideproject in spare time... on the span of 4 years or so.
My two cents - excluding people who "not work on their game full time" isn't very smart, most people have responsibilities and jobs, and can't afford to spend all the time on their pet project, and it doesn't mean they are not serious about releasing their games.
I wish you all the best on your development anyway.
You could say it was not on ps1 / psx, I was expecting some good retro stuff. Before anyone starts complaining - i dont know what "dreams" is, and title just says "advent of code on playstation", which implies doing challenge on 25 year old console.
This is one side story, with no "oh I didn't knew it'll be used that way!" gotcha moment - I've worked in private milsec for some time, and I'm responsible for few device designs / ammo improvements/mk's, while I take pride in job well done, just because someone dies more quickly, doesn't mean its a good death - so after some years, I've started having doubts of that career path.
Wasn't it because they basically told backers that "they didn't purchased anything", and instead of focusing on fulfilling kickstarter backers orders, started selling them in shops, so you could actually get the device faster purchasing it normal way in e-store, instead of backing the campaign, which pissed off a lot of people who started complaining and got muted?
I've heard that even talking about that on their discord is bannable offense, and everything is either countered with jokes, sarcasm or put under the rug.
