Many niche topics I have an interest in are still better represented by standalone forums, I have found.

... in ways that are not accessible to the everyday person.

I'd say that honest, thorough and helpful articles like this as a function of marketing lead to word-of-mouth, organic growth.

Curios about the targeted market, as well. Is the focus simplicity or privacy. The site says it is for developers ... why?

Focusing on privacy will likely require simplicity. Narrowing the focus may actually be a better marketing option.

Unrelated, but I really like the background/font color contrast on the site. Makes for very easy reading to my eye.
