Politicians reflect the masses, their level of knowledge, their morality, their greed.
The whole stick "people are fundamentally good but.. they vote for bad people" does not hold under scrutiny. They are sometimes good when it does not cost them anything to be god. But so are most politicians. If they would not lose votes or money if they did a good thing, they would be mostly good whenever they are not ignorant.
Larry Page is showing finger or irrelevancy towards American democracy and I think he does it not because he has antipathy, but because he thinks it's increasingly irrelevant. He can buy the Congress, he can even set up the public sentiment and opinion with Google when things turn serious.
They removed the ~"do no evil"~ " Don't be evil" from the preface of Google corporate code of conduct April 2018.
They have "don't be evil" in a last sentence: "And remember… don't be evil, and if you see something that you think isn't right – speak up!". It's directed towards the Google employers as individuals, not for the corporation.
In most countries the same-sex marriage comes trough legislation, not from court decisions.
ECHR has ruled that relationship of two same-sex partners falls under the notion of "family life". It means equality of treatment and non-discrimination in regard to the protection of family life.
But no same-sex marriage right. I's my understanding that this is difference between individual rights and state obligations.

They are always attended by a person and they must travel in diplomatic mail. Data inside the HDD is considered safe when the computer is powered off even if stolen, but any break in the custody chain and it was forbidden to open the laptop again. You just bagged it for destruction or data retrieval.
Moral of the story: controlling physical access is the key to security. Apple phone may be secure after powered down, but it may not be secure after you start using it again if it was handled by someone in between.
