I really like the general idea. I’m constantly doing this solo or with friends so good to see what others think. The long lists are a difficult UX, not sure how you completely get around that. Glad to see mango second (at the time of posting)

Supposedly part of the justification for the layoffs was to recoup the large amounts of equity that had been given in recent years (presumably to senior members of staff) which had led to a dilution of the stock. Pretty bizarre if this was used as a rationale and it wasn’t the actual reason.

Some will say this is a casualty of the overall shift in how music tastes are made and spread, I disagree, Pitchfork always had an eclectic mix of music it reviewed. I didn’t like a lot of it, hated a chunk of it but loved some of it and it felt like you could discover incredible music that wouldn’t break through without pitchforks platform, alongside mainstream pop that was actually sonically worthwhile.

I’ll miss this site. If anyone has any YT channels or other similar music sites, I’d love some recommendations

It’s still unclear whether google is trying to associate the activity in incognito mode with the activity in the logged in account, this ambiguity makes me distrust them as a company

I’ve been surprised by how good ChatGPT is at this, I took a picture of squid ink and mushroom pasta, which I made last night, and identified the entire meal accurately, including the garnish on top. If you take a second to think about this, it’s actually incredible.

I’d love to see a version of this based on additives and processed ingredients. These are big contributors to obesity and most Americans aren’t even aware they’re consuming such unhealthy food

An interesting development is AI bots that can act as human agents and visit a site and extract information. I imagine these are only needed when there are barriers to use all other solutions, otherwise it’s a bit overlillt

I’m convinced that the genre of boring Podcasts for sleeping is a large but undefined market. I listen to “in our time” and “The Guardian Long Reads” and “conversations with Tyler”.

The content has to be not so boring it’s annoying, but slow paced and open ended enough that I can fall asleep. Audio books fiction or otherwise, don’t do it for me, I guess I’m too invested and end up following along.

I’ll take any recommendations!

Training an LLM on timeseries feels limited, unless I’m missing something fundamental. If LLMs are basically prediction machines, if I have an LLM trained on cross-industry timeseries data, and I want to predict orange futures how much more effective can it be? (Genuine question). Secondly, Isn’t context hyper important? Such as weather, political climate etc.

It’s a shame the article doesn’t talk more about the possible benefits of AI in academia. The ability for researchers to spot new patterns, discover new areas of research. The way information is generated, disseminated and then read by other researchers in this space is fairly prosaic if you think about it. Causally is a company I think is trying something in this space
