Check your settings. I experienced the same until I altered Apple TV settings that fixed Disney+. If I recall, the setting was Match content or Match dynamic range (not near tv right now to confirm exact name)

The book "Commodore: A company on the edge" covers a bit about early MOS. It was quite fascinating. Worth a read if you are interested in the era.

Its amazing what Chuck Peddle accomplished

Solution for my kids was buy or borrow whatever books they show interest in.

If they like reading comics, then get a stack of comics.

I allowed them to stay up later (if they want) but the condition is that time only can be used for reading. They really enjoyed that and it helped.

In time they traded the comics to fiction novels and their reading ability kept improving. They now get books from the library on their own and read quite a lot for their age. No parental pressure needed, they are addicted.

It's a shame. I'd happily take good books (low cost or free) but storage and shelf space is the problem.

I used to imagine running some kind of second hand book business (non profit) when I retire. Sad that these days it may not be feasible.

Also found it can be good to talk it out later that day once the kid has calmed down or the event has passed.

At times asking my child after story time, right before bed, "hey, remember today when x and y happened. Do you want to talk about it? Why did you get upset?"

I find kids will happily talk and give their side of the story. It's good then to explain what you think could be a better way to handle that situation in future. Often they'll agree and I'll even hear them later using the strategies to resolve playtime disputes with other kids.

If I raised my voice or was involved in the event being discussed, I will also share my side of the story and explain what I'll try to do to improve or help in future.

I'd recommend JZ1000 or JZ2000.

Panasonic JZ OLED series is amazing. They released an update which has full working support for 4K 120hz VRR (useful for Xbox / gaming) .

I had been looking at Sony before that and saw that they had promised their users for a couple years to release the same 4k 120hz VRR update for a number of bravia models. to date they either didn't release it, or released flawed implementation. There were so many complaints online it steered me clear of Sony.

I then went into the store thinking to buy LG but Panasonic looked very nice. I watched a ton of reviews from HDTVtest on YouTube and took a gamble with the Panasonic. The calibration of the set is very much better than my old Samsung. Night and day.

In the end it was cheaper and I've been very happy.
