Third party controls are simply not there yet. (Performant datagrids, comboboxes with complex layout etc)

>And maybe by .NET 9

If I take look on roadmaps and apply developer velocity of MAUI, WinForms and WPF it will take many more versions.

"NATO did not have the backing of the United Nations Security Council to use force in Yugoslavia. Further, NATO did not claim that an armed attack occurred against another state. However, its advocates contend that NATO actions were consistent with the United Nations Charter because the UN Charter prohibits unprovoked attacks only by individual states. The principal legal issue remains, however, since NATO as such is not a member state of the UN, whether the member states of NATO, the United States and the European powers that sent armed forces to attack as part of the NATO bombing campaign, violated the UN Charter by attacking a fellow UN member state: (1) in the absence of UN Security Council authorization, and (2) in the absence of an attack or a threat of imminent attack on them. Probably somewhere in Beijing and Moscow on the same day when bombing started, they were opening bottle of champagne because they got "excuse" to do same later when they need it.

Breaking every possible international law and bombing train full of people seems like great solution.

I think that even one single human loss is disaster and hate to go along this road but please inform yourself more on "evidence" of those claims and heavy exaggeration of victim numbers.

Why is that problem?

Nobody in my country wanted to be bombed by NATO and it still happened.

WPF is the best desktop GUI framework for enterprise applications. WPF and Prism with third party contols are still unmatched in terms of productivity. Even good old Delphi or VB6 are not coming close.

Are you maybe hiring? I have been reading you posts last couple years on HN.

I am doing something very similar with .NET stack (single file deployments), SQLite and offline scenario...

Please contact me on my username's email (gmail).

For us it is really not problem.

We mention in our job descriptions clearly .NET 4.8 and still get 100s of applications. In the meantime we are working on upgrade to the new .NET but it will take at least couple years.

This for for sure not. They do not have capable multi-platform UI.

It is nice project for CV. I would hire you immediately.

Much harder problem is getting rest of the eco system working on something else than mainframe.

I prefer my European 35 days off (must use 25 yearly, can collect up to 100) + 12 official holidays.

>quiet wireless mouse and keyboard

Which models did you buy? I am looking over 2 months now with unlimited budget and have no luck.

Keyboard:

* standard US layout

* should be really quiet for my night sessions

* available in EU

Mouse:

* big size

* standard 3 buttons and wheel

* quiet clicking and scrolling

I have currently Microsoft Sculpt Keyboard (still working but worn out) and Logitech M330 (too small).

.NET ecosystem is very healthy. There is as always occasionally some drama (Identity Server, ImageSharp etc). In general for most of tasks there is almost always good library.

I see much more abandonware for Python and Java.

Sure. Backwards compatibility on Windows is unmatched on other platforms.

>but they have revamped C# libs/platform so many times I have lost count.

What exactly do you mean? There was big migration towards .NET Core but full .NET will be supported forever. They even listened customers regarding WCF and helped a lot with CoreWCF.
