Not quite useless. POST tells the server to check for a body which I think is a reasonable indication of intent. But otherwise, yes, it’s all arbitrary and just vague hints to the server program as to what you might possibly be thinking of doing…

I’ve undertaken information security training in a number of Japanese companies. They all had what I thought was a disproportionate weighting on the “blind drunk salaryman falls asleep on a train and leaves behind a laptop, mobile phone, USB stick etc.” scenario.
Most Japanese kitchens have a combined microwave and oven; the oven is consequently small compared to one in the US but works well enough. Woks are used for Chinese cooking and so aren't standard in a Japanese kitchen.
The fridges are small by comparison but, especially in cities, most people shop several times a week and so space isn't a problem.
