Why should I wear a mask if you don't wear a motorcycle helmet (100 times safer than the mask)

Which reminds you that HN moderation got outsourced to affiliates of the Democratic Party

Looking forward to the comment that reads "after seeing all these HORRIBLE comments it shows we still need a lot of work to do to educate ourselves about race"

Many people have raised this issue. How can you call it United States of America when America includes 40+ countries.

I suggest these names for the US government:

- Internal Revenue Service

- North America Management Company

- Corrections Corporation

- Currencies and Arbitrages International

There's politicians trying to trademark "Europe" to make their monopolistic government "Union" more palatable.

There's more than 30 languages in Europe.

US feels like a capitalist monocolture, where every city looks pretty much like the others.

I find the in-video ads annoying and now they circumvent uBlock.

Current strategy is to turn down the volume and scroll down to the comments / look away for 10 seconds.

Ads are very irritating

Some websites go past the point of no return (for me Twitter, Reddit, I don't bother anymore)

But some websites were usable and now I am frustrated (in Bloomberg, newspapers the reader mode used to work but not anymore). Medium, Towardsdatascience have nice ML articles now often behind registration wall.

- CAPTCHA

- cloudflare redirections

- Affiliate links to Amazon

... to read a minimally informative article.

It's been terrible in the last year.

uBlock is not detecting Youtube ads,

Twitter is blocking anonymous navigation

And the examples of OP are all too accurate (Business Insider, Bloomberg, Forbes, Medium, virtually any platform).

I think the only way for Europe to become a shitshow is by continuing to add immigration.

In Japan 40% of population is over 65. It's extreme case of aging.

Yet they are doing perfectly fine with virtually zero immigration.

I don't think it's a major issue to take care of the elderly. If anything we need to take care of the young!

Pensions are very high in Europe, salaries stagnant, the elderly are property owners while the young are not.

Enough of cheap fallacies!

"We need immigration;"

No, we don't. This is a mantra that keeps being repeated without much substance.

Housing affordability, job quality, public finance sustainability won't get any better with immigration. Maybe salaries keep being depressed, consumer demand increases, and that's good for profits. But I can't think of much more!

In 2015 2 million of excess population arrived with nothing to Europe. We had to feed them, give them housing, etc.

I think it's natural to worry about what comes next!

"truly disgusting!" mindset

Afghan population has increased from 9 million in 1960 to 40 now, but it's not raining any more.
