And what story should you tell when someone comes at you with whiteboard coding challenge?

I’m from Eastern Europe and I’ve learned what PTO means after working with US folks.

For us it was always called “vacation”. It is taken for granted that sick days, funerals (and plenty more that I can’t list from my head) are always paid.

Yes and no, Unity uses its own fork of Mono. When .NET evolved it keeps on using the forked mono and apparently CoreCLR is one of their priorities accordingly to blogpost here https://blog.unity.com/engine-platform/unity-and-net-whats-n...

„ we now use the .NET SDK to embed the .NET runtime. This means we use the CoreCLR runtime for desktop platforms”

Wow this is huge! Seems like Unity is lagging behind and their journey for CoreCLR just started.

Speaking as person who lives in country next to UA. Yes you can - without problem.

You can even deliver package without any single issue other than a bit higher cost.

I do not understand how bitcoin would be better over bank controlled transaction.

Just in case if you are wondering about alternatives: there is Unity’s Plastic https://unity.com/products/plastic-scm which happens to use bidirectional sync with git. I’m curious how this solution compares to it! I’ll definitely give it a try over the weekend!

Engineering a Safer World: Systems Thinking Applied to Safety

by Nancy Leveson

Definitely one of better books that makes you think outside the box.

I do not feel it’s right to “Buy only whole-bean coffee roasted within the last few days.” - what should we do with coffee that was roasted weeks or even month ago? Throw it away? My mantra is to never throw away food - I will keep on drinking my coffee until I’m done, then I’ll move on to the next pack. Difference is so small that it’s not worth it.

This looks really good! I gave it a thorough look and is definitely something I’d consider using. Maybe as canary in one of our systems.

Youth of product makes it bit scary to use fully in mission critical systems - given how many problems with Redis started to show up under proper load. But definitely on my watch list.
