Aer Compliance (fka Argus) is building a leading SEC compliance platform with a great team in NYC! We're already trusted by large industry names, and the list is consistently growing. We've raised a Series A from solid investors, and are looking for strong engineers to help expand and improve our offerings.
Seeing this now, it makes a lot of sense how the scammers would know to target me.
tl;dr is that some scammers knew I had an AT&T account, and called posing as some AT&T branch that could only speak Chinese (ostensibly serving NYC Chinatown). I think they're targeting 2nd-gen Chinese speakers and forcing them into likely broken Chinese to throw them off guard.
While yes, the bandwidth is certainly enough and comparable to fast (but not fastest) consumer-grade storage these days (2-3 GB/s), I'd be more concerned with latency issues as NVMe tends to have latency on the order of microseconds (so ~1/1000th that of a very low single-digit internet latency).
The landlord provides the option to live somewhere with significantly less time or financial commitment than would be required if buying. The number isn't the landlord's parasitic decision, it's just economics.
