How does it compare cost-wise for you?

Good point. Age and obesity are the strongest correlates with low testosterone. Increases in sedentary lifestyles probably aren't helpful either, but not clear if that is anything other than a proxy for obesity

My little hamlet is 40km (~25 miles) from the nearest established town and it’s nothing but state forest between so it will never be economical to run fibre.

The typical solution is called Fixed Wireless which is essentially the same as 5G or traditional satellite internet.

I’ve used Starlink for years and aside from the exorbitant price I wouldn’t consider switching. The dish is very low voltage so I have a failover system for during power outages to keep my server and work connection going.

Space junk aside I’m glad to see Space X being challenged because some downward pressure on price would be nice

My Ducky Zero keyboard has outlived several laptops in the last 10 years of abuse and it’s nice and portable. You can swap the switches when they die. I see this as a far better solution

It’s the food equivalent of declaring bankruptcy. If you don’t fix the behaviours you’ll just end up in debt again.

This is awesome! I’ll be lurking for new data sources. I’m working on a self-hosted language app more focused around cloze and sentence mining into Anki. I love seeing more stuff happening in this space

It’s great to see more stuff like this. Thank you for your contribution

Maybe I'll try out a month on the usage plan and see how it compares dollar for dollar. I think I'm squeezing about as much as I can out of Anthropic under the plan

Fair. If you trust the stats on Codeburn I've used $6k USD of tokens in the last month with Claude as a very heavy user, so our situations may differ

No problemo! I built almost the same app just with a web interface because I couldn't sell my tech illiterate fiancé on a TUI app. I'd have used micasa if I was rolling solo

Maybe there's a conversation to be had about how much is enough... Unless something beyond my imagination happened, I would be happy enough with Opus 4.5 levels of productivity

I’ll play around and see if it works with reduced permissions. I understand your concern.

FWIW there’s no outgoing network requests or telemetry, nor logging. Thanks for checking it out anyway

I originally intended for it to bind to the Hyperkey bind but had trouble getting it to play nice with existing binds. Any ideas of other key binds that might work? It occupies a lot of fingers

Is there even an option in the Android space that isn't entirely filled with Bloatware? I've always hated the Samsung Android skin so I've mostly written off the rest of the market

I think the Nexus 4 is still my favourite phone I've ever owned. Maybe it represents a period of techno-optimism I had, and how my relationship with phones have changed over the years. Now I despise my phone but am required to own it for my digital ID to pay taxes, receive work messages, etc.

Sounds like I've been very lucky with my Pixel 4 and 7 that I haven't had any hardware issues while running GrapheneOS.

They rock. I've made a couple which act as proxies for previously web-only activities. e.g. a Github Issue manager app which generates a little kanban board for me locally. The barrier for entry feels much lower and doesn't have the same "spinning up a new next.js app" fatigue. And I echo your thoughts with design consistency, having it just inherit your terminal theme makes for a nice visual experience. My favourite in this new wave of tui apps is micasa.dev

It falls under the "social outreach" line item I believe

What is stopping you from switching to GLM 5.2 now? Have you tried it out yet?

I'm playing with Deepseek a lot more via OpenRouter recently and the only major downside I can see is the usage billing over the monthly plan

Thank you! Running phrase translations through an LLM really helps with processing idiomatic phrasing, and also enables quite good output practice. Spoken output practice would be a game changer.

There's definitely a lot of potential in this space especially in generating learner content in languages where there's sparse content online.

It's blocked in Australia as far as I can tell so I'm only going off your post.

This feels like something that Vanta, Drata, or Iru may just patch into their existing platforms that already have mass market adoption. Maybe if you get some traction a company like that would be willing to buy it, but most people using a GRC are pretty entrenched and likely won't want to add another platform like this.

I think an open-source self-hosted angle with optional paid cloud plans is becoming more common these days. Might work here
