I work with Lior at Caltech. He's an amazing guy, probably the only person I know who is capable of doing first-rate work in both biology and mathematics.
I saw an ebay link for 4 cameras pulled from a HiSeq 2000. I am interested in using the cameras to build a digital microscope, but I'm not sure how easy it would be to interface the cameras to a PC, or if they need optics to work. Any ideas? Not directly. I briefly thought that a certain computational number theory problem might involve subset sums, but alas, it turned out to be the wrong approach.
