Okay lets say you are a person who want and able to live on average Indian yearly income in rural India.

How the hell you end up in US on $100,000+ job? How much time it took and how much you spent on education / job search / migration to US?

If you're from India then likely all your relatives invested into your education and migrarion.

I do get that $100,000 in expensive parts of silicon valley likely will buy you a room, some food and commute to work, but math dont make sense here.

Person from that kind of country likely had to spend $100,000 just to find job and move to US and survive there for the first time.

Legal migration to US is super hard and super expensive. You have to be both very successful in what you do and very dedicated in order to do it. Or very rich. And it take years.

People who choose to migrate to US and manage to do it isnt the type to throw it away on small scam.

And if they managed to get in easy, fast and illegally then they wont be the ones competing for $100,000+ job.

And likely "suitable" countries are not the ones you want to do any investments or even transfer 100,000 to local bank.

I understand that side note wasnt for me, but yeah most of cheaper developing South East Asia countries are not "poor". Though there are ones you can call that, but again in a such countries you dont really want anyone to know you have $100,000 somewhere on a bank because its can get unsafe very fast. Its either "live just a little better than locals" or get in trouble.

PS: I talking of Myanmar, most of Laos and Cambodia.

You likely meant 50 Gbps as its what come up on their website and some recent US fibre discussions.

In any case even 50Gbps likely a huge part of their total throughput and you wont be abble to use it at full speed. So its pure marketing.

Sorry to disappoint you, but no you cannot live "comfortably" in "poor countries" for $100,000 for "years". Well, unless you mean like two years.

I lived across South East Asia for more than decade and now live here full time. I have to live on around $20,000 / year most of the time since starting my company. And I do not live anywhere close to what average US / EU citizen will call "comfortable" let alone people from valley.

Stories of rich living for cheap in poor countries its just that: stories. It only possible if you preserve your US salary. For $50,000 post tax a year you can live well unless you have kids that need not a "poor country education".

> People do weird things when given sudden access to money or power.

Given your story its not sounds like this is power grab. More like they actually on spectrum and have some mental issues on top this. Or had mental breakdown because something happened before that money arrived.

Situations when people do something weird, bad or just plain evil for money and power are usually logical. E.g people think they got access to more money they percieve they can earn in next decade, or ever, something that settles them for life.

Earning more than $100,000 and throwing everything away for $95,000 only make sense if you are terminally ill. Or if it was never your real identify in first place and its well planned scam.

When I have personal email server and I need just ocasionally send email or two it can be as high as possible.

I just want them delivered not into Spam folder.
SXX

What always bugged me about whole email its that we still dont have two best and most reasonable practice to fight about abuse:

1 - Ability to pay once to provider give your domain Good reputation score to new or old domain and IP and whatever. Like pay once, be a good citizen.

2 - Or just use Hashcash or any other PoW.

This would really solve a problem with 99.9% of spam and allow actually more decentrolized email system.

Fact that no matter what you do its impossible to setup own emaik server to just send few emails a year with 100% guaranteed delivery is just beyond me.

E2EE on iCloud with advanced data protectiob still keeps metadata not encrypted likely exactly for this purpose.

It has nothing to do with human decisions. Bans always come later because it's a best way to make sure most people who get banned would never know what are they banned for exactly and what threshold there is,

The same tactics used in game development against cheaters. If it would ban you right after prompt you'll know how to avoid getting banned.

Obviously that didn't worked for you because you wasn't doing multiple attempts to bypass filters like if you were jailbreaking it by repeatedly trying different stuff.

There are big countries with a good internet. Russia was one before it started turning back into totalitarian shithole.

Most people use Speedtest when something going terrible wrong and they have packet loss, extreme latency or something similar. Or before renting out their appartment on AirBnB.

This is the worst part. They could actually capitalize on announcing Xbox wont drop physical media, but obviously that's not happening.

I’m a software engineer and game developer with 15+ years of experience. My background ranges from full-stack web development and data scraping to building custom OpenWRT firmwares and maintaining C++ open-source project using CMake, Valgrind.

For the past five years, I co-founded and ran an indie game studio. As gamedev CTO, I led a small team of devs, designers, and artists to ship three publisher-funded commercial games, including a simultaneous PC and multi-console (PS, Xbox, Switch) release. Most recently, I've explored integrating LLMs into my workflow, allowing me to single-handedly build two complex 50,000+ LOC client-server multiplayer prototypes in just six months.

I am very extroverted person with experience of managing a company P&L, crafting pitch decks, or driving bizdev. I know how to hire, lead, and execute fast.

I am looking for both full-time roles or contract work, in or out of gamedev. I treat my work as my life, and will dedicate 200% of my energy to it. So if you looking for contractor, co-founder or just advice on indie gamedev feel free to reach me!

This has nothing to do with ability to clone the passport. E.g anyone who held your passport for 10 seconds can still create clone with exactly the samw data on NFC chip.

Active Authentication is when NFC chip itself hold cross-signed signing key thar is not exportable so its possible to confirm passport wasnt cloned.
SXX
·há 10 dias·discuss
Wasnt it Anthropic marketing their models as very very smart and dangerous?
SXX
·há 11 dias·discuss
AFAIK not all NFC-enabled passports support Active Authentication. E.g least before US passports did not support it so cloning them is as easy as reading them via NFC.

So you cant fake non-existing passport because of issuer signature, but cloning is not a rocket science for many countries passports.

If you have stolen IP designed for cutting edge processes you need about the same tech to produce said IP.

Producing 10x of 10-years old GPUs is not exactly useful for modern AI codebases for instance.

It's even worse than that. Demand is so high so every next GB will be sligly more expensive. There is a lot of smaller hardware manufacturers that unable to secure DRAM chips at any price, there just no free capacity on market.

Of course Apple is massive, but if they announce inference boxes that everyone wants they need to make 10,000s or even 100,000s of them.

And it's very much likely they'd rather sell 600,000 - 10,000,000 more iPhones or Macbooks Neo. End users bring Apple money with every OpenAI / Claude subscriprion sold through their platform.

And inference boxes is just one-off sale of hardware that will bring no further income.

Of course if RAM prices crash Apple might of bring high RAM options back. We just cant bet on it as consumers.

Right now RAM shortages are bad to the point where likely even Apple have to decide what products they make and what they discontinue.

There been short time where M3 Ultra with 256GB / 512GB been best offet on market because Apple lagged with price increase. Now HN crowd expect Apple of all companies jump into price war with Nvidia and to subsidize their inference hardware.
