> Does anyone else get a Fahrenheit 451 vibe from mixed reality? No doubt it is completely awesome and I'm very excited. I can't help but feel like we'll all end up like Millie Montag.
It isn't a 'civil war', it's a US instigated invasion of a sovereign nation. The reason being to prevent a Syria-Iran alliance that might have threatened Israel. It says so in Hillarys leaked emails.
Yes I have read the article, but I'm still confused as to the who and the how of his $50 million fortune vanishing. Could someone please put the salient details into a single paragraph.
"Within 10s of the forward stick input, the A330 had reached a 17˚ nose-down attitude. Its automatic high-speed protection system was triggered 3s later"
What exactly did this 'automatic high-speed protection system ' do?
"As the aircraft pitched down, the aircraft’s captain – who was alone in the cockpit – attempted to disengage the autopilot and pull back on his sidestick"
Surly the autopilot would have disengaged when the pilot moved his seat forward and pushed the sidestick forward at the same time?
"With dual inputs being delivered, the A330’s flight protection system was automatically engaged"
I thought the 'flight protection system' was already engaged. Why would dual imputs trigger the ' flight protection system'
“The initial recovery from the dive was the result of the aircraft’s own protection measures, and not the product of pilot inputs.”
What exactly did the computer do to initiate 'initial recovery'?
"Prosecutors have stated that the stolen classified information includes the names of covert intelligence officers"
Just who in their right minds keep the names of 'intelligence officers' on a computer. As for the 'classified computer code' most probably hacked together GPL code.
I do appreciate long form writing, but not when it's done badly, as in all the salient details are scattered about the page. That article would be good as part of a biography. Having never heard of Jane Jacob, I too had to consult wikipedia. They should do what Time Magazine does and have a separate info-box with a brief synopsis of the salient details.
According to my limited understanding, some time back Poettering called for udev to be subsumed into systemd. When systemd.udev breaks something his response is. It shouldn't be in udev in the first place, it isn't my problem, we lack the skills to make it work. Going on Poetterings past utterances in response to criticisms of systemd, I have to say I am not impressed. It demonstrates an arrogance, immaturity and lack of people skills. Perhaps someone else should take over the helm.
In this article, the opening paragraph actually tells us why Jane Jacobs is culturally relevant. without all the irrelevant digressions. I mean what the heck does her boss being unable to attend a conference got to do with urban architectural planning.
> What's still not known is if Thiel has dual citizenship.
Hey, if they can elect a Muslim born in Keynya, President of the United States of America, then what's wrong with Thiel taking New Zealand citizenship? (I get all my news exclusively from Faux News)
Microsoft Research: 'Each year Microsoft Research hosts hundreds of influential speakers from around the world including leading scientists, renowned experts in technology, book authors, and leading academics and makes videos of these lectures freely available.'
It's a pity Microsoft doesn't expend energy in figuring out how to make opening an email attachment or clicking on a URL safe.
I agree, stand-by to be down-voted into oblivion. Besides journalists should report the news instead of being the news or creating non-issues as in a lot of cases. I call it the oprahfication of the commons.
"Was Snowden a Russian Agent?" .. no, he was an outside contractor with a conscience, illustrating the perils of outsourcing your spying. Why an IT functionary would need access to the raw files to do his job just beggers disbelief. After all if you wanted to compromise a security service, what better way than infiltrating some IT services company or even simpler, start one yourself.
A very well thought out piece, which begs the question as to why it was down voted.
