Huh that happens to me too, tooth grinding and all. I never thought it might not be normal. In periods it's so bad I have to completely avoid music or I won't be able to sleep. I'll just lie in bed jamming for hours. It's incredibly annoying, and a bit scary to observe my mind going in circles like that.
It's definitely stress/anxiety related for me, or at least coincident.
I don't play an instrument, do you? Maybe it could "get it out of the system" somehow?
This is my experience. As a teenager I pirated about half the media I consumed. Now that I have a modest income I legally consume almost all my media (books, music and games), except for uni text books and scientific articles that aren't available through any of my libraries.
I tried following my linear algebra course using freely available materials and/or 2nd hand text books, but constant "new" editions and access to online study portals made 2nd hand books impractical.
I feel like this is "the 2nd uncanny valley", on the other side of realism. It's more uncanny because the face is so realistic, indistinguishable from a real person. But the weird mistakes around the face reminds us that this is made by something entirely alien, with an alien understanding of what it means to be human. It's like The Thing.
