the use of "flimsy contraption" and "first nudge" indicates your level of ignorance of the subject.

"Description

Dali is a Neopanamax container ship[7] with an overall length of 299.92 metres (984 ft), beam of 48.2 metres (158 ft 2 in), moulded depth of 24.8 metres (81 ft 4 in), and summer draft of 15.03 metres (49 ft 4 in). Her gross and net tonnages are 91,128 and 52,150, respectively, and her deadweight tonnage is 116,851 tonnes. Her container capacity is 9,971 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU).[2][8]

Dali is propelled by a single low-speed two-stroke crosshead diesel engine coupled to a fixed-pitch propeller. Her main engine, a 9-cylinder MAN-B&W 9S90ME-C9.2[9] unit manufactured by Hyundai Heavy Industries under license, is rated 41,480 kW (55,630 hp) at 82.5 rpm.[2] Her service speed is 22 knots (41 km/h; 25 mph).[5] For maneuvering in ports, Dali has a single 3,000 kW (4,000 hp) bow thruster. Electricity is generated onboard by two 3,840 kW (5,150 hp) and two 4,400 kW (5,900 hp) auxiliary diesel generators.[4] "

Not who you're replying to, but it seems this is a classic case of mistaking not noticing change is evidence of no change.

I've been following this newsletter for a while as I have a passing interest in (photographic/cinematic) lens design.

If you've maintained an OSS project and managed the tickets raised, you'd know.

ethanol fuel, by itself, doesn't increase engine power. Ethanol allows the use of higher compression-ratios/increased ignition-timing/higher air-density than typical petroleum tunes due to lessened chance of detonation.

Fair enough. If that's what's important to them.

1080p even on a 13" (XPS) is too small for me and has been for a long time (IBM X31).

My X1 Carbons (2nd gen) 1440p is the bare minimum for me and thats almost 10yrs old!

Why in god's name are they _still_ using 1080p displays?

DDR* is the register for setting up what the pins on PORT* should be doing. BV is just a bit-twiddling macro.

I don't know why he's making it harder than it actually is. It's almost as easy as the MSP430s. Using the arduino-ide complicates things IMO so that's probably where he's gone down the wrong path.

A simple makefile, avr-gcc, avrdude and the attiny85 datasheet is all you need. He has the programmer I use judging by his description.

Makefile i use for my projects https://pastebin.com/pntGaWk7

edit: I think he isn't using the same programmer. He's using that annoying one where you have to either unplug + plugin before each flash with arduino or ground the permanent reset pin. Chuck it and get a proper avr programmer.

Easier for a heli-pilot to find when transporting a patient?

I gave up a long time ago (almost 20yrs) after looking into it but recently I had a video pop up on my YT-short feed that looked interesting. It seemed scammy, and it was, but it got me looking more into it again.

I came across an FDA-approved device called lenire. Reviews seem hit or miss, but if I'm feeling flush I may try it. I can mostly put up with my tinnitus these days but it can get quite frustrating when tired & I want to sleep.

At first I wondered why such a link, devoid of anything substantial, was so highly upvoted.

Then I saw who I wrote it.

Ehh. I think the author is a little blinkered here based on these examples.

It can't. It really can't. Even with betterscanning.com holders you can't beat dedicated film scanners or dlsr scans. Drum-scan obviously being the best. I've never wet mounted on flatbeds so can't comment.

My almost 2decades old Nikon V-ED, which I bought when it came out, still outperforms the most expensive flatbed you can buy now (V850-pro), which I also have.

If you're interested https://www.filmscanner.info/en/FilmscannerTestberichte.html... educate you without having to buy anything to find out for yourself.

I have that scanner you're talking about and a Nikon V ED. The Nikon with 'only' 4000dpi massively out-resolves the V850. It's true resolution is somewhere just over 2000dpi and that's after adjusting the trays height.

Because of that I only use the V850 for 4x5 and 120. It's a waste of time for 35mm even if it's quicker to scan multiple frames.
