Optiwatt’s mission is to reduce global warming and accelerate electric vehicle adoption by making ownership cheaper and ensuring our grid can handle the additional electric load. To achieve this, we are building the world’s most valuable network of connected and controlled electric vehicle load.
Here’s what you’ll be working on:
- Scheduling charging times to reduce CO2 emissions
- Coordinating charges to balance the grid’s electric load
- Building features for electric vehicle owners
- Supporting additional electric vehicles (yes, you’ll get a say in what we add next)
- Integrating solar and storage devices

Hi HN, six months ago I met a fellow dev who wanted to focus on reducing global warming and encouraging people to drive electric. So we quit our jobs as software developers to focus full-time on building an app that would help.
We recently launched what we’ve been working towards, Charge Scheduling for Optiwatt, www.getoptiwatt.com, a 100% free app that automatically schedules your Tesla to charge during the cheapest electricity rates and tracks your exact spending.
We spent months organizing utility data so that users can automatically integrate their electricity rate schedules based on their zip code without having to dig through utility bills.
Our goal is to reduce our reliance on dirty coal plants that get fired up during high demand by helping users track their consumption and automatically charge during off-peak hours.
Here at Optiwatt, we are building the brain between the grid and electric vehicle charging. We offer a free app that automatically schedules electric vehicles to charge during off-peak rates in order to save money and reduce grid load.
We are a small startup located in San Francisco, California. Our team is made up of software focused environmental enthusiasts who love solving large scale energy problems.
We are looking for a frontend / mobile developer to help us launch our current web app on mobile.
