Using a plug-in hybrid as an EV can and will wear out the drive battery over the lifetime of the car. It doesn't even matter if you don't intend to keep the car for very long as a rational market will price this in. The cost ($10k or more) goes a long way at the pump.

Related to this, GNU's libstdc++ shared_ptr implementation actually opts not to use atomic arithmetic when it infers that the program is not using threads.

Even with a 5" screen, it was bigger than for example iPhone 17 in every single dimension due to its hefty bezels (and not insignificantly so; iPhone 17 is closer in width to iPhone 13 Mini than a Dell Streak).

Screen diameter is in general a bit misleading figure for phones from different generations as "full screen" phones tend to have a taller aspect ratio and hence larger diameter even with same body dimensions.

Fuel-type block heaters heat the cabin as well (they turn on ventilation once the coolant has warmed enough). Electric heaters are meant to be used with a cabin heater that uses the same external power source.

Isn't that just a great way to ensure kids have that precious sunlight for after-school activities... wait, what? Should we do double-DST also?

Where exactly have you been? It's definitely illegal to cross the street outside designated pedestrian crossings (where available) where I live - and you will get fined if you're impeding traffic by doing so and are seen by the police.

Now, I don't know all the national laws here in Europe, but this page would support the idea that other countries might have very similar laws: https://ec.europa.eu/transport/road_safety/specialist/knowle...

>(c) In order to cross the carriageway elsewhere than at a pedestrian crossing signposted as such or indicated by markings on the carriageway, pedestrians shall not step on to the carriageway without first making sure that they can do so without impeding vehicular traffic.

>(d) Once they have started to cross a carriageway, pedestrians shall not take an unnecessarily long route, and shall not linger or stop on the carriageway unnecessarily.

Technically, all cars can take 3 car seats (1 in the front, 2 in the back) if they have the mounts for it.
