We do. We've had a great experience moving our front-facing website to it after self-hosting on Digital Ocean. Not a single issue to date (that wasn't self-inflicted), and less time spent dealing with infrastructure.
Be prepared to spend a lot of time building up your professional network and brand - and never stop. When times are good, you'll feel like you can stop because opportunities are all over the place. When times aren't so good, you're going to want to avoid scrambling for more work.
Aptitive | Data Engineering & Analytics Consultants (all levels) | Chicago, IL | Full-time | Onsite
Aptitive is a Chicago-based IT consulting firm (~30 FTEs) that solves complex business issues through best-in-class data solutions. Our core offering is building data & analytics platforms for mid-size to large enterprise customers in Chicagoland.
As a technology agnostic firm, we have the ability to recommend the best tech stacks and tools for our clients based on the use case and long-term impact. We build end-to-end solutions, from data strategy projects to data warehouses to analytics and ML capabilities.
Our differentiatior is in giving our team a large consulting firm's opportunities with much more rapid career growth experiences. You will not be a behind-the-scenes analyst for years under a partner, instead you will be client facing and have opportunities in two years that you would have in five at a Big 4. The same goes for mid-level hires.
Please email [email protected], or find us on aptitive.com/careers. We offer some great perks, including $3k yearly training stipends and 100% employer paid premiums for insurance (you pay $0 in premiums).
I'm also happy to answer any questions and provide introductions to our team for feedback on the quality of life / day in the life at Aptitive.
As a consulting firm, this sounds like what Upwork and the whole gig economy for freelancers is going to end up becoming. In the end, I think we'll still circle back to quality and in-person relationships winning out every time.
There's a huge difference between writing ETL to apply business logic vs. grab the data from a common API like Google Analytics. There's no tool in the world that can write all the logic you need to transform data the way your organization uses it unless you have an extremely simple, common use case.
What this article is really saying is that replicating your data from source apps shouldn't be manually coded. The harder part still needs someone to write code so business users don't need to.
Not a fan of this article. Could sum it up fairly simply here:
Build credibility and trust with your clients, prospects, and network. Trust in you gets decision makers to listen. You don't do this overnight. You can both code and be viewed as a thought leader - it's not mutually exclusive.

Documentation on Azure is significantly better than any other cloud provider out there. Not sure last time you looked, but it's matured significantly in the last year. Azure has some of the best data services in the space.
100% this. Starting your own business means you are now responsible for generating sales, keeping your team engaged and happy, and cultivating a culture that is productive and innovative. Running a business is not a technical role, it's a people role.
