Naive, but would love to hear from whoever is more knowledgeable if this is more an "enemy of my enemy is my friend" type situation, or these nations are building warm, long term relationships?

or if you don't have a close relationship, then you leave the impression you must be coming from a hard place!

I wonder how much of our focus on growth in 'city builder' games stems from the US's past with colonization, and its current cultural heft. if the americas and 'virgin' (i.e. easily depopulated) areas existed, would this concept be so popular?

its so interesting to me how so much of entrepreneurship today is showing up with a narrowly defined problem, and building a solution around it. then there is the huge trap of building a solution without a problem.

what's touched on here seems to me as the best approach - showing up with a passion / vision with talented colleagues, then working towards that through any means possible.

Meanwhile, reading this on planet earth every few paragraphs is interrupted by an ad for a groin / body hair trimmer.

Honestly, it puts things into perspective when considering the terror of the 'dark forest' hypothesis. If intelligent life is anything like us, they are just as stuck on the prosaic (arguing amongst themselves about invasive ads) as they are on the profound (ending other civs).

depends on the 'salesperson' (i.e. recruiter). third party recruiters run the gamut, and in my experience if you work with a good one they'll help you negotiate higher, provided you make their job easier (fast communications, transparent, etc.)

very interesting! I wonder if targeting inflammation is the right approach though. To elaborate, swelling and inflammation after injury or physical stress serves a purpose and should NOT be 'treated' to disappear [1]. In the same way, I wonder if inflammation is something which aids in aging rather the root cause of many of the issues it causes (sure, it may certainly have some unwelcome side effects). That said, welcome this research and how it can be used for living and non-living creatures.
