More importantly Apple can effectively bring up the shadow of this lawsuit whenever OpenAi tries to acquire money.

They can make legal fillings and calls to Bloomberg to keep the story going as long as they want to and suck some oxygen out of any IPO ramp up.

Many countries effectively have a live registry of where people live, updated to within a few weeks. A door to door census isn’t needed because they can do something like:

Unlike North Korea, Israel is highly globally economically integrated. I’ve only ever seen anti-Zionists propose defeating the state the same way the last apartheid state (and Israel’s nuclear weapon development partner) was: a mix of extreme economic and diplomatic pressure.

Because it would be really nice to know if some of the currents collapse when it happens rather than months later.

Even beyond that immediate need, the oceans are incredibly poorly studied and are of massive economic and military value to the United States. Baseline statistics on currents could be very useful for all kinds of as yet unknown science and applications. Countries that run a big navy do ocean science. It’s a form of dual purpose funding that benefits both civilian and military ships.

If you are worth $52 Billion how petty do you have to be to go after your ex girlfriend for cash for any reason?

Also the arbiters write up is incredibly biased and not at all what I would expect a neutral party to write. “One can also conclude that Ritter engaged in self-centered efforts to obtain revenge against Schmidt in a way that was more damaging than helpful to her cause.”

This is about a man who went after a girl less than half his age and then decided the power imbalance wasn’t severe enough so went into business with her as well. Are we really supposed to believe sexual assault is outside the realm of possibility in those circumstances?

The EU also lacks incentivizes to not harm SpaceX. The US government as a whole, and DoD in particular wants SpaceX around to deliver cheap mass to orbit.

Europe on the other hand would love any judgements which give their rockets a chance to catchup. So they won’t temper an investigation or fines accordingly.

Tbf UBI-lite during COVID was paired with 2 things:

1) massive handouts to business owners through forgiven “loans.” Predictably this had massive fraud, some of which was prosecuted but not much.

2) massively constrained supply chains which caused higher prices.

I suspect 2 at least would have caused inflation regardless of the stimulus checks.

It’s unclear to what extent UBI causes persistent inflation. Proponents claim the backdrop of a minimal income will enable more risky innovative projects which could increase GDP growth enough to counteract some level of increased inflation.

If power plants and bridges are targeted, would imagery of that be released “on a case-by-case basis for urgent, mission-critical requirements or in the public interest?” Is there any recourse for the media to seek an exemption?

If a hedge fund bought an earth imagery provider and traded on imagery they are “requested” not to release, is that insider trading?
