Does any organization, anywhere, alarm when a port exceeds a couple dozen TB of data? If they can lock down every phone use to a GB/month…

Have worked with several trans folks at major legacy corps like IBM and while I'm sure there may have been rank-and-file issues, discrimination was not tolerated by mgmt in the latter 90s. My memory is IBM and HP added non-discrimination policies around that time.

> Gates, Jobs, and Zuck

Harvard, Reed, Harvard.

Any drop out from any of those has hurdled more than 98% of the general college corps. Or at least that would be a rational assumption by the VC cadre that is probably in the top 0.1% and an Ivy League grad.

On one side Paul calls it AIgiarism and she's throwing donations at it.

Maybe we should all hedge our bets when it comes to our AGI overlords.

We will see a combinatorial explosion of centuries of experience in the hands of any creator. They’ll select the artistic model desired - a Peckinpah-Toland-Dykstra-Woo plug-in will render a good enough masterpiece.

Christopher Nolan has already proven we’ll take anything as long as the score is ok - dark screen, mumbling lines, incoherent plotlines…

Liberal Austin voted to criminalize homelessness this year.

So it’s safe for glibertarians now.

I predict sales of Boring Flamethrowers will skyrocket in TX. The Truck might make a good Techinical.

Wait until they see their property taxes and valuations jumping 20% a year. No Prop 13 there.

I loved Austin, and lived there twice, but you can stick a fork in it now. Maybe in 20 years when they’ve finished the I-35 reimagining.

If one drives down Alameda street in SF you'll see a lot of people trying to stave off a repair bill they can't afford with amateur shop night.

I get not having a neighbor who runs a covert or not-so-covert shop next door, but these laws are bludgeons written for selective enforcement.

For many in SF, they should imagine a Fillmore district with ~3000 more Victorians. Because that's what got bulldozed by enlightenment.

Y'all will when enough of you get old enough and can't pay your property tax on retirement.

78704 is in your future too.

This. I do look back at Austin in the 80's and 90's wistfully. Was fully cognizant how lucky I was but realized where it was heading and had to let that pretty girl go.

As long as they personally don’t have to throw grandma down the stairs, they’re ok with it. The price of progress.

Since TX doesn’t have Prop 13, they are going to be annoyed with the tents cluttering their views.

East Austin’s demise was a neighborhood topic in the late 90’s.

Move fast, break things - if only we could innovate in nuclear energy... It’s telling that all these experts who complain about regulations can’t point to a single one being a problem.

When I went to UT, you could be poor. You could be retired and live in Travis Heights. You can’t do those things now, because there’s no rent control, and your 1400 sqft bungalow is valued at $1.5M and your tax rate is $2/$100 valuation and going up 20% next year.

The difference is Gov. Abbott will eventually drive those icky poor/homeless under the overpass out by taking over APD and busing them to CA. Progress. /s

The locals have been mostly gentrified. There is no Prop 13 in TX, it’s a low-service state, so it all rolls down to property valuation and tax rate.
