I get pi.dev AI agents to use Fossil-SCM with a skill. Lots of built-in features like Wiki and Tech Notes. I’m sure there’s lots more to use with agents.

I've been writing about my day every night since 2010. First with a proprietary app which before it folded allowed me to export as plain text then learning Emacs and using org-mode. You can't capture everything but I've learnt to remember my day. Apple allows health data export as an XML file.

This is like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Etoys_(programming_language). About fifteen years ago I used to teach high school students that came along to my university to get a taste of IT a session called "How to Write a Computer Game in Ten Minutes" using Etoys. I found this was the fastest way to get all of those "Tech Savvy" (ugh) teenagers an experience of writing computer programs instead of learning word-processing and spreadsheets they did in Design & Technology. As an extra I got them adding track sensors to control steering with "Artificial Intelligence". So isn't this a fancy version of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scratch_(programming_language)?

Most creators work for hire and the company owns the IP. Anecdote: I can't remember the song written on a bus and sold to the record company for $250 to keep food on the table that has earnt billions for Warner, Sony, or Universal Music. Nothing more for the creator. Big company stealing from another big company to benefit the rest of us? Seems like fair use. Nothing to do with creators. That incentive was meant to be something like 20 years (same as patents) not almost "forever" like the Mouse wants who expropriated from all of those European folktales and sanitised them. No incentive if you live off the earnings of a "one-hit wonder".

I loaded it into Numbers (Apple's spreadsheet program) and changed the input. It recalculated in a few seconds (M1 16/512 Mac mini) but the output didn't change. It needs a deeper drive.

I've been trying to improve my J skills by doing the https://adventofcode.com/2022 puzzles. I got stuck on day 7 because recursion in J is possible but an advanced level incantation. Day 1 was five short lines of code for Part One and another two lines for Part Two. Each line of code needed four or five long lines of documentation.

I remember going along to a VAX/VMS System Administration workshop. Another bloke and I did a prank where we substituted text of the text editor that would produce blinking "Working" if it got busy. We substituted "or" with "an". The workshop coordinator caught us because we forgot to do something I can't remember and a login was tied to the change in the executable.

Happy System Administrator's Day!

Yes I've been changing "utilise" to "use" by hand in Wikipedia for many years. When I read "utilise" I hear Homer Simpson in a top hat trying to be posh.
