@tptacek and @idlewords can you share how you are teaching these non-tech people how to use a password manager?
In my experience it's far from intuitive even if you're using 1Password. Just the first step of explaining how to create a master password that is strong enough to protect all the other secrets is a challenge. I try and describe the diceware process because it will yield a better result than what the user will come up with.
TLDR: Hover is a domain reseller and DNS provider who a few days ago suffered a DDoS attack which disrupted everyone who was using their DNS servers. Hopefully if you had your domain registered with Hover, but used CloudFlare DNS you'd not have experienced any disruption.
I switched from easy to medium mode after reading following your advice. How would you suggest dealing with for instance youtube.com now that no videos will load?
Btw only hard mode stops any browser details leaking on the test site: http://webkay.robinlinus.com/ which is awesome, but I wonder how much time you have to spend fixing all the sites that you visit that will be broken in this mode.
