I tried it but the difference to Opus didn’t seem to justify the extra cost and stress around these limits.

The Max plan at 180€/month excl VAT already comes up for budget review every time. Not sure any sort of increase will be tolerated at all.

Yup, edited to clarify I mean the MEPs bring “the will of the people”. Clearly not enough has happened on local level to raise awareness / lobby against chat control. I don’t think many outside tech are even aware if the slippery slope of the surveillance machinery.

> how democratic of the EU

Well, these are the MEPs elected by member states. We don’t like the outcome but this means chat control is well supported within the government of each country.

> That is kind of surprising

Have you seen notifications on iOS? There are even notifications for the notifications.

But this type of notification I believe is delivered via iMessage and email. So unless you’re actively using iMessage or your icloud email then chances are all this is practically invisible.

> There are at least some technological solutions

I think the main takeaway is that the concept of such verifications is fundamentally incompatible with privacy. Today we have a simple "are you an adult" check but who is to say we wouldn't want further levels of segmentation (legal age to drive, age to allow health insurance etc)?

And this just one signal. Nobody likes the EU cookie/consent prompts but what they've shown us is that most websites are perfectly happy to fingerprint you the moment you step on their pages, and then share/broker your activity with hundreds and thousands of "legitimate interest" partners of theirs.

So the real-world equivalent of this situation is that you walk on the street and whenever you need to wait for a traffic light, board a bus or the tube, go into a shop, etc... you have a security person who needs to faceID(or fingerprint) you and make you wait until they find a match of your profile... and then they ask you to present your ID (which you have to carry at all times) but hey, it's private because you need to enter your PIN for them to read the chip.

I can't verify if the author's attempts are even real tbh. Sounds like they were creating problems for themselves just to see how much it would cost to get sort them out. For a GmbH you also want to get an accountant and just delegate the whole process to people who can guide you before you hurt yourself.

I hope it doesn't come as a surprise to anyone - LLMs don't really "think".

So does iOS, but this is a different feature than what we’re discussing here.

Since Android 11, Google copied the iOS model except Android is a bit more permissive and so you get a bit less privacy out of the box.

Interoperability mainly - if you want to deep link into a specific app or show a list of apps to open.

These days we have more modern and privacy protecting APIs for making content available to the system or other apps… but that doesn’t stop the profilers.

Yes indeed, the limit is 50 which is of course enough to fully profile "regular people" who only have a handful of apps. Also don't forget, Meta/Google/TikTok/WhateverPalantir are updated weekly which means they can tweak their LSApplicationQueriesSchemes list and cover even more apps if they want to.

You mean the made up idea of immigration as a problem? Sure.

What Brits probably want more is to rejoin the EU, get back some leverage on the world scene and dig themselves our of the brexit hole

LinkedIn is right there for “career updates”.

Nobody really knows or cares about Mr Jumper there. Congrats on his new role in converting humanity’s achievements into slop.

It’s funny how exciting Apple Pay was when introduced, only Apple pulled the lock-everyone-in card and now we’re all using QRcodes.

> how corrupted elites are

The commission is defined by councils and policy from each member state. Many member states send their right wing nuts so there is a bigger picture than just "corrupt".

The movie M3GAN 2.0 had the exact same plot twist. The kid in the movie even explains outloud what the bot had to do to deal with the limitation. So in other words, since 2025, even teens know this "sandboxing the LLM by layering prompts" thing is never going to work.

I saw the video and still have no idea what they are. Also, “never locked in” but then “pricing” and why is one paying for “apps” but self hosting relays?

Vacation months*, plural. All project timelines were aligned to wrap up important things by the end of May. June is still operational but mostly focused on reporting, shaping and generally preparing for September when (mostly) everyone will be back, refreshed and ready for new adventures.

Not to mention OpenAI/Anthropic’s newly found appetite for keeping data (made public with Fable but we don’t know what actually happens there anyway).

There is so much role play going on for people to convince themselves that any of this is fine.
