My understanding is that when people refer to deposits being insured in America they are nearly always referring to the FIDC insuring $250k on deposits (not for values greater than that amount, and not for stocks etc).

Is it common practice for other banks to insure deposits more than what SVB? I keep hearing the 'how could they not have insured X% of their accounts'. That question adds to the hysteria if most banks wouldn't hold insurance if they had those clients. There isn't a lot of reporting separating whether SVB was underinsured or whether the only difference is that other banks have a lot of individual depositors vs catering for businesses.

It starts to invoke a bit of concept creep (e.g. how more people use trauma to describe an everyday bad experience) to describe it as hate.

I'm guessing the commenter (or the royal you) wouldn't be comfortable being labeled as someone who hates Chinese laborers who build Iphones, or the laborers in India who scrap toxic ships left to die, just because you own an Iphone, or bought something that was shipped from overseas and aren't taking much action.

I would also call out that it's a bit of a concept creep to call you insane by that commenter.

I like this approach. Troubleshoot what part of the job offer journey you are blocked it. In addition to the advice of 'Find Out', which can be in the form of the OP making a post and doing the above advice, one one area I see other Engineers who are out of the traditional Engineer path often neglect is reaching out within their network.

OP mentioned previous employment and having an undergraduate degree. Is OP still socializing with anyone they met in those environment. Is so talk about this goal to get back into the tech industry and ask for advice and execute. Show your network that you are trying so they can give you feedback.

The reverse is to say you haven't made any 'qualified' friendships that have met your bar after moving into a new city for 15 months.

Moving to a new city is hard, and even harder if you have not made any friends after a year. I don't know whether this is a specific dig at NY, but most people who move to a new city would expect to socialize with a few 'new friends' within the year.

Does anyone have context of the content as the original post is gone from Reddit?

Also on my BoA App, I have the notification:

> Please Note: Zelle transactions made between and January 17 may be delayed in occurring and posting to accounts as requested. Transfers will be completed and will appear in your account activity and balances as soon as possible. We apologize for any delay or inconvenience.

Not to discount the stress that it induces, and our expectations as customers, but hopefully it's a blimp in their servers.

I read it more as understanding the onus of the firing situation. Often the individual (or team) tie parts of their worth with being fired. But when it comes to planning and layoffs, that decision was made at the same level that made the decision to hire.

The ramifications of hiring are bigger. Sometimes a firing is because of the individuals lack of performance, but I think this quote is asking the hirer to be mindful of what outcomes (layoffs) come from mistakes of their decision making.

Agree. The quote is a great headline, but I read it to be to say they overstated the need and effectiveness to hire security: "We’ve put in incremental security in the stores in the first quarter. Actually, probably we put in too much. We might step back a little bit from that."

It's like realizing that the current state of individual recycling may not be the most effective solution, and then twisting it into an climate change denial.

I encourage you to reach out to check-in with your friend see how they are doing. Layoffs can be pretty hard to do alone.

I don't know if others do. There seems to be a news article, an internal hint, and then with a letter or message from the CEO that accompanies the layoff.

The script that these companies all follow is pretty much the same. I wrote down some observations on what CEOs put out on the weekend, and it's been a good bingo sheet of what Plaid did as well.
