I understand that having the DDG browser on Linux is difficult. It would be great if there was a way to just sync bookmarks and passwords using the browser extension for other browsers.

I use DDG browser for work and mobile and Firefox on Guix.

Been a happy EXWM user for a few years now. Really impressed that it comes as a desktop option for GUIX.

GUIX, EXWM, and Emacs are home for now :)

This is excellent news for giraffe conservation! Finally having the scientific clarity to recognize four distinct species means we can now protect each one more effectively. It's encouraging to see conservation science advancing to give these magnificent animals the targeted protection they need and deserve.

Nyxt Browser already has this feature

This is a fantastic project and offers the best experience I've encountered in an Emacs-like browser. However, I have found it to be somewhat unstable. Despite this, I have great respect for the development team for choosing Common Lisp, and I hope the browser gains wider adoption. I would love to use it as my main browser across all platforms.

Nice setup! I'm using Guix with EXWM and Emacs for most things. Just wondering why you went with Qutiebrowser instead of something like Nyxt?

I'm lost down the Emacs rabbit hole. Currently using EXWM under Guix

I'd love to use Emacs for Java development, but I feel that IDEA is almost a necessity for professional Java/Spring development

I'd love to know if this was in a work setting. Did switching have any effect on your productivity? I appreciate that some languages are better suited to Emacs such as lisps and schemes.

What prompted the transitions for you?

As someone who has struggled with learning maths, this looks really great. I've set up an account and look forward to giving it a try

And yes, the Hacker News minimal style of the website is very much appreciated! well done

I'm trying to inspire my children with the same ideas. I spent my youth tinkering with an Amstrad CPC 464.

Looking for what could inspire them to tinker in the same way without always wanting a YouTube video or book to follow.

How would you create a love of experimenting and trying without fear of failing or doing something wrong?

The most interesting part for me is the relationship with the parents and children.

Compared to what I was brought up with (The Simpsons etc) it's nice that children are not only taught interesting values but also what the values of parents are

Wishing everyone the best for the new year. This is a wonderful place amongst the craziness of the modern internet

I feel like this extends to other genres but in a more abstract way. I have spent a long time engineering a build order in an rts or a load out in an MMO (I'm thinking EVE Online as an example)

Either way, thank you for putting this list together
