My experience is that the more you try to trick the system, the less likely it will work. Advertising is one thing. If you do something like fake accounts or make yourself bigger then you are, you loose the grass roots first users who become your biggest supports when you want to grow from spam lists. You should read what economists say. Know your customer. If you can't find any don't do it. Know your competition. If you can't define it, don't do it. Know your business. If you don't love what you do, don't do it.
Hey John. I have no design experience what so ever as I'm primarily a coder so I don't have any idea how this is useful for people? Can you elaborate? Also i though people sold this kind of thing on themeforest.
I was once approached by the conservative party of North Vancouver to build their web site. But they turned me down because I hosted my sites in Vancouver which was out of their constituency. Nobody hosted out of North Vancouver because you had to cross a bridge to get there and there was no fiber optics to do it. I should have told him I'd put him on a special server off my home ADSL box and been done with it.
"chilphol's manager claimed that "spillage" was down 80% once the flies were added. That, of course, saves a lot of money on bathroom maintenance costs."
1) I don't know about you but I've had my penis for a while now and know how to aim. What the fuck is wrong with the rest of you! ...and don't say it's not you because at my office, the fucking urinal always has serious spillage and we are all in our mid twenties, early 30's. That's 30 years to get it right!
2) What the heck were they paying to clean up urine around the stalls that makes it such a huge savings?
3) To get that huge savings, do they now clean less often? EWWW!
Ok I think this post was intended to make me feel stupid. Why do we need macros in javascript? I use it all the time for you know, paid work so please explain to me the benefit.
No offense Sunir but why would you want to outsource your projects. Your a small company in Toronto and you have plenty of talent. Either a) your looking to hire on the cheap in which case what out Freshbooks customers! or b) you can't find talent in Toronto which i can't believe is true.
Why don't you start a wing here in Vancouver and maintain your Canadian Talent?
I think that when a site's user-base of teen girls and Celebes's exceeds 50% the idea of an "Average User" moves significantly away from what we know as the average Hacker user / geek persona. 2008 called and they want there perception of an "average twitter user" back!
Same reason why we are still using Microsoft products. We're to f'n lazy to build it ourselves. And I don't mean develop it because obviously any developer worth their salt could replicate the code for twitter in your favorite language. I mean BUILD it. Community, Scaling, Developer base, etc...
Also in a nice piece of irony, I went to make a comment by signing into my twitter account (which really just gives posterous.com access to my account BOOO!) and I got the fail whale. Henceforth sealing the deal for this guys douche baggery!
So you made $126,000 and your still using Google Checkout. I call bull shit! Most people get a merchant account from their bank and then they don't get screwed.
If this is true then I think you should probably send out a nice letter to your customers and tell them that your refunding their money because Google is causing you grief, link to a blog post explaining the situation in details, and ask them to pay again via your new merchant provider. I think that if people saw the refund on their statement, then they'd pay again. Then you'd get something.
I think the lesson here is that you should never rely on a service / company who won't put any effort into customer support. I thought this was common sense?
I realized I was reading a post by a moron when I read this.. "Vancouver’s suicide-inducing winter climate" - Oh you mean the mildest winter climate in Canada. WTF? Buy an Umbrella!
