Ethyca | Remote, NYC | Senior Open Source Engineer (Python) | $140k-$180k | https://ethyca.com

Ethyca is a Series A startup building data privacy tools for engineers. We have an existing product that helps companies automate GDPR/CCPA requirements, but I'm now building out multiple teams of engineers to focus 100% on free & open-source tools to solve difficult privacy engineering problems like: database analysis, PII classification, data pseudonymization, etc. We believe that privacy is currently an afterthought in the software development lifecycle and want to change that... to read more, see out recent HN post: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=27929233

If you're an experienced Python dev with some combination of privacy, OSS, security, or data eng experience, and you want to help make data privacy best practices accessible and pervasive, check out our open positions here:

Maybe for the "big" decisions (like whether or not to store user data in the first place), but I'd argue that in the myriad of small decisions (like whether to copy the entire user object into an analytics table or just a pseudonymized id) I do think the average dev isn't as "respectful" as you think...

YMMV of course

Ethyca is an Series A startup building data privacy tools for engineers. Our core business is helping companies automate GDPR/CCPA requirements, but while doing that we've also been creating developer tools for things like database analysis, PII classification, data anonymization, etc. We believe these kinds of tools should be freely available to all devs, so I'm building a small team of Python developers to work full-time on open source projects in the data privacy space.
