Split horizon DNS is not something I'm willing to do. I'll just rock out with .internal or .home.arpa, have step-ca and bind communicate to each other, either in step-issuer in kube or maybe even rfc2136 if i feel like a bit of the dns-01 strategy is in order. I slap the internal ca root certs everywhere, and keep my home infra out of the crt.sh logs.

I get it, I could just do *.mydomain.com and slap that wildcard cert everywhere, but it's still in the public logs..

Heh. Copy that floppy. I remember being in the computer labs in high school in the mid to late 90s seeing posters saying "Don't copy that floppy" with strong anti-piracy warnings.

What is with the phrase "increase spend"? It just seems gramatically .... off. Why not say "Apple partners with Broadcom to produce billions more US chips".

I can’t speak about orbstack, but I’ve worked with docker desktop and podman desktop for years on macOS. Those programs start up a virtual machine that consistently eats ram regardless of whether or not you are running containers in it. Apple container looks lighter weight. In the age of ridiculous ram costs, you gotta save resources.

The sheer amount of internet disruption that goes on in Spain during soccer matches is just absolutely insane. People who pay for internet service and use it responsibly should not have their service disrupted by people pirating soccer matches. I can’t imagine the investors of the internet companies in Spain are happy about this either.

I’m just using .home.arpa for my self hosted stuff. Free, just have to deal with TLS root cert trust, but once that’s down; you’re golden.

How about the last pre-enshittified version of Minio?

I may not be the first to bring this up, but seeing the name of this program reminds me of Data’s evil brother

A 16 year boy apparently named his Bluetooth speaker “bomb” and couldn’t turn it off, as it was probably in checked luggage. Woof.

GitHub is not a monopoly. It never has been. You've always been able to self-host or you can use gogs, gitea, gitlab, bitbucket, you get the idea

I really wish that 1Password wasn’t an electron app. Or Spotify. (Maybe I should just use Spotify in the browser).

We need to advocate and evangelize for native apps, like RapidApi on macOS and also Tower.

I spend all day in a terminal multiplexer (zellij) with neovim and other splits. Using things like k9s / btop / lazygit / lazydocker helm / stern / whatever that systemd TUI I saw in here and started and will check out later just keeps me focused in one window, and that’s pretty cool

This is inexcusable. Just because sports right holders are worried about piracy doesn’t give them license to break normal internet operations. Spain, get your act together and put your equivalent of the content cartel in the penalty box.
