Freedom is not a boolean, it is a scale and google offers more than apple at the moment. Ironically the pixel devices are one of the few where bootloaders are unlocked in the US and you can flash a customer google free rom. Assuming there is no hardware based surveillance this is as close to free as we can get at the moment.

With the m1 chip you pretty much can, the heat is low enough that you can just add more transistors to the die and give it more juice and it will fly. It seems the days of intel are numbered, not even i9 processors can compete against it now.

Except android has multiple app stores and most people just end up using the main one. There is no good reason to restrict user choice

Then don't download apps that aren't from the app store, no one is forcing you to. But dont restrict choices of users who want to.

This is the only reason I use edge over chrome, for tree tabs. I would use firefox but I have noticed significant slowdown on some websites that I use frequently.
