I really have no problem viewing him as both a hero and traitor at the same time.

I am not sure why we struggle so much with that idea given the complexity of the situation.

Haha spot on. My hang out was this broken slide at an abandon playground. Or you could climb on the metal bar in the overgrown weeds.

There is just no way I would be doing that in 2023 as a kid. It was fun at the time because the alternative was even more boring.

To me, if you watch videos of what amateurs can do with the maneuverability of a $300 racing FPV drone it is most likely those are military drones of some sort.

Even a $300 racing drone looks pretty alien if you have never seen one. A $3 million dollar one would absolutely look like it is from another planet.

I am sure this is just the beginning. The gym I go to is closing shop because I think the rent the commercial property owner has to charge is not worth it to the gym owner but to charge less is not worth it to the property owner. It is going to end up the bank's problem.

Going from 0 to 5% like this is probably taking the swim trunks off people who did completely prudent due diligence to not swim naked.

The strangest thing about our society is that we have absolutely no problem with dramatizations of killing and murder in movies.

Even to the point of having an entire genre of "Horror" movies with a general theme of murder defining the genre.

We properly view those scenes though as complete fiction.

Well you can gain a free GPU hour by rating images. I am pretty sure midjourney is doing some kind of reinforcement learning from human feedback.

The 5.1 raw model is simply unbelievable for photo realistic images. There is 4a,4b,4c, 5, 5.1, 5.1 raw, the anime model I never use. All are interesting but how often do you read anyone mention what midjourney model they are talking about? Basically never.

There are certain circumstances that I have seen stable diffusion match the output but overall I don't even think it is close.

Personally, it wouldn't even occur to me to look for stock photos now as opposed to just making variations in midjourney. There is a bit of a learning curve with so many options in midjourney so I take anything I read about it with a grain of salt. Most people are using these tools to make absolute shit.

I think this will be quite successfully marketed as a status symbol.

Obviously, it was intentional to create a scenario that there are viral videos of people gasping at the price reveal.

I do think this is a revolutionary day but in a totally dystopian way. I suspect this is the start of where the tech innovations are more and more not going to be targeted at the mass market. The mass market is financially tapped out. The future is what Bernard Arnault and his 200 billion dollars figured out a long time ago. As AI starts to make society more and more unequal the money will be more and more in the high end luxury products. Everyone else can eat cake.

I would think cigarette smoking is a big variable in the effect too.

People living in poverty, uninsured, didn't graduate high school are all variables we know correlate with a higher % of cigarette smoking.

That is a great analogy. That is how I remember it also.

More high brow and not something you would really watch for an hour straight.

The old CNN was meant to be as "entertaining" as the Weather Channel.

I use to watch Al Jazeera America all the time but it only lasted a few years on TV here.

It was totally non-partisan from what I remember. Focused so much on the world outside America too.

I would imagine that is exactly why it closed.

As if that question makes the idea less insane.

I think this is a huge stretch. I would have a hard time even calling it immoral if the whole site vanished tomorrow, without reason.

Surely, there is nothing in writing that has been agreed to that Reddit owes anything to the health of communities.

No one could possibly say this about usenet and I don't really see the difference.

The article is basically trash. If anything the content of the article is the opposite of the headline.

To me, on a 50+ year time frame, the rupee is more interesting than any of the 4 mentioned.

I was just thinking yesterday how if 1989 in China went differently that the dollar right now could be in trouble.

Lula's currency is pretty laughable. A currency that you share with Argentina? What could possibly go wrong?

It is delusional for sure.

The kid that hits puberty is going to figure out a way to watch porn on their phone if they have a phone. The phone has to practically be useless for them to not figure this out.

Parents are just in denial because the whole subject is so uncomfortable.

What we currently know as social media is going to be destroyed and I can't wait.

Do you really think it will be difficult for groups of AI to beat the quality of discussion on Twitter or Facebook? lol. The bar is just so incredibly low.

I just tried watching some of The Frost from this link but it looks pretty terrible considering you can do literally anything.

As if your body is in the same state after working out than if you had sat on the couch doing nothing. As if the only change happens during the time you are actually working out. As if no calories are being spent recovering from a brutal workout for the next day vs sitting on the couch playing video games.

I just don't get it. This stuff is just not that complicated. Just constant wrong information over and over and over.

This is simply wrong. None of this stuff is even complicated.

It is even more ridiculous when there are about 3 months of the year when people decorate their front lawn with giant snow men with blinking lights, giant skulls and witches that blink off and on or giant Easter Bunnies and eggs on the front lawn, corn stalks...

Surely, even some of the people complaining about this have a giant inflatable reindeer in storage that they look forward to putting on their lawn.

We are fine with decorations as long as it is only 25% of the year. More than 25%? What are you crazy and a deviant?
