Isn’t every government putting out a policy paper making AI a focus area? Why is it suddenly nefarious when China does it?

If you’re changing your name and identity, don’t have a network, and can’t put any previous experience on your CV, I think that would absolutely qualify as a career restart today, even if you’re in the same broad industry and using many of the same skills.

This was a problem in 3 and 3.5 era too and was only exacerbated by the rise of forums and wikis. I don’t think it’s possible to release one-size-fits-all-the-crap-that’s-out-there campaigns that are going to be actually interesting. At some point the DMs job is to make decisions about what fits and what doesn’t, and to help cultivate a culture of collaborative storytelling.

The whole Sequoia thing is so interesting. Here is an excerpt from their (now taken down) profile of SBF, highlighting the moment he convinced them to invest:

> That’s when SBF told Sequoia about the so-called super-app: “I want FTX to be a place where you can do anything you want with your next dollar. You can buy bitcoin. You can send money in whatever currency to any friend anywhere in the world. You can buy a banana. You can do anything you want with your money from inside FTX.”

> Suddenly, the chat window on Sequoia’s side of the Zoom lights up with partners freaking out.

> “I LOVE THIS FOUNDER,” typed one partner.

> “I am a 10 out of 10,” pinged another.

> “YES!!!” exclaimed a third

Like, he’s rambling about how you should buy bananas with Bitcoin. How was this compelling to people who control serious money?

It always struck me as the opposite. If someone running a crypto futures exchange said they wanted people to buy bananas and groceries on their platform that’s be a signal to pass, right?

That’s simple, but it’s not a solution. Can you imagine writing software in a world without open source (that is also free as in beer)? I can’t.

And to echo the top reply to your original comment, nope you don’t get to decide to for everyone.

I personally think that releasing free software and then complaining that the multibillionaire (trillionaire?) companies that rely on it refuse to fund you even after you’ve expressly asked for it is perfectly justified.

This is an industry with so much more money than it knows what to do with, and yet critical software rots for the want of a few thousand dollars here and there.

It’s Haiti. It doesnt exist before the racism and colonialism. Of course, something existed on the same land, but that wasn’t Haiti.
