I can fully understand your sentiment too. I not have always lived in Scandinavia. But sadly now I can fully relate to the author too.

This discussion needs more exposure because it is hammering the nail hard in the head.

I have come to both conclusions on my own too... Is it better to live in competition to avoid thinking... Or... Is it better to derive joy form external factors: family, craft, nature.

I have no good answer but love where the discussion is going.

I also live in Scandinavia.

Hmm... Hard to beat that energy density when the workload is large.

Trucks, tractors, planes, ships. Sure consumer cars will be EV but ICEs are not going anywhere

People might not be aware but this is standard operation for any kind of integrated OEM ( other equipment manifacture)

You sell units at break even, hoping you make profit from service and support.

Sure. I can hand you a handful of USB sticks about 20 paper wallets maybe a hard disk or two...and tell you, here are my keys. Now what you do? Do you put down your gun and start verifying which one is with actual funds or, do you know what is a usb drive and what is a hw wallet? Are you gonna ask me for my password too. How do you know you actually stole something worthwhile? How do you know I am not going to be faster transferring the coins to different wallets?

All that is vs. "show me gold, shiny ohh heavy".

You see the levels of complications....

Here is the irony of crypto vs gold...

You can secure ur gold physically very well, fires and natural disasters short of volcano, yet it is easy to steal it at gunpoint.

Crypto is hard and cumbersome to secure ( paper keys, hw Wallets), yet very hard to steal at gunpoint.

Also there is plenty of anecdotal evidence especially in IT of highly successful career women that would drop everything just to have have children.

All these brilliant minds working for so long and accomplishing so much... Just for a clap and cheer, yet tommorow they have to do it all again in the rat race. Yet cryptokings are basking in glory for a lifetime.

Well if you take a look at the project managers in for example... Accenture.. Most of them have none of the skill you mentioned. They just have been at the right place at the right time... They know what ass to kiss and go along their days happily double clicking on the internet and overselling government it projects....

Alot of the same can be said about many startup ceos.

Just take a look at all the crypto startups that made millions in 2017-2018

Ok here is a breakdown for an 8 hour shift of a project manager vs rockwool factory worker.

Project manager: 8:30-9: Show up in office. Get coffe.

9-10:30: Check email.

10:45: Standup Meeting.

11-12: Lunch

12:30-2.00: Sprint Planning meeting

2.00-4.00: Help team and answer emails.

4:15: Go home.

Factory Worker: 6:55- Be ready and changed on post on the line:

7:00- Line take over and work:

9:00-9:10: Coffe Break.

9:10- 11:30 : Line work. Clean up some shit with no protection.

11:30-12:10 : Lunch Break.

12:10-1:30 : Line work.

1:30-1:40 : Coffe Break

1:40 - 3 : Line Work.

3:00 - 3:30 ( not payed ) : Change and go home

--- To clarify: There is no chairs on the line. So Line works means your standing....

Both jobs can be done by anyone,

But only one of the jobs requires you to have friends and kiss ass. Guess which ?

Yehhh... yehhh.. naaahhh...

Rich people dont work so much... They just make so much money sitting around with other rich people they might as well call it work...

If you work in wall-mart your lunch is not paid. If you are the CEO of wall-mart you can expense a 2000 USD lunch and call it a buissness meeting.

If your job is number collection (realestate, banking, etc ) it is an addiction just like hoarding, the more you do it the more bigger number you want.

We should start shaming people for hoarding money just like we shame the poor for collecting toilet paper.

Working 12 hours as a CEO is not comparable to 12 hours shift in the factory.

Compeletley agree.

Elon was lucky to be born in a rich family. Made his first 100k before 18.

Felix was lucky to be born in time to ride that hippie wave.

Just like some people were lucky to throw money on bitcoin in 2010~2015.

Still more should be a credited to chanse and luck.
