Would be cool to have an embedded typeform-type widget that compliments disqus that takes the following flow: - are you interested in meeting offline? - which country? - which city? - enter your email to get updates (or check back here)

Then when there’s enough demand, you’re shown meeting spots and times to vote with RSVPs.

The key is the widget has to be embeddable and agnostic of the content so it can manage itself based on sensible rules (only show possible events when there’s enough demand, but make the demand really easy to measure).

You're confusing a breathalyzer with a field sobriety test, the latter of which no one should agree to. It's the sort of test that asks you to walk straight, hop on one leg, allow an officer to use a flashlight on your eyes, or recite the alphabet backwards. They're designed to allow the officer to use their discretion to determine if you've failed rather than use an objective reading (like a breathalyzer).

Ask yourself why an officer would want to use a set of tests that require being subjective instead of deferring to a breathalyzer.

I’m not speaking from the startup world, but the sheer amount of small businesses that don’t do any level of revenue forecasting, financial modeling, or even formal budgeting and still make a comfortable sum (~$10m assets over the course of 10 years) based on instinct is pretty staggering. Personally it seems more stressful but that’s the leeway experience gets you.

If you think OSX is user hostile because of intentional vendor-specific keyboard keys, note that Windows computers have a “Windows” key. Is that an international standard?

I think most commercial keyboards (just about all laptops) are terrible and If there really are international keyboard standards, they’re not great design. I personally think all keyboard layouts are ultimately wrong because the underused caps lock is in prime real estate and should be replaced by the CTRL key (check out the ADM-3). As for Macs requiring a certified keyboard, that’s just plain wrong.

The ultimate gripes come down to key placement and window manager shortcuts, both of which can be modified on either OS.

Ha! I was wondering what the point of Memoji were... it’s to copy our facial expressions or get us more used to animated faces to warm up to Memoji instructors!

I tend to pass out easily from strenuous cardio exercise (I’m bad at knowing my limits when it comes to cardio. Just about passed out ten minutes ago because I pushed too hard on a treadmill/rower cycle. This is why I prefer gradual, predictable weightlifting, a challenge during the pandemic but that’s it’s own story).

Having metrics like heart rate, calories burned, and time remaining would show me clearly where my body is in addition to how I physically feel on screen which could be a huge help for me. Add factors like sleep tracking and I have an even better idea of how much I can push myself before I workout.

Unrelated with this announcement: there’s a lot of value to an Apple One bundle now (Apple TV, Music, Arcade, Fitness, News) but I have too much brand loyalty to Spotify to switch to Apple Music and feel like I would hurt publishers by using Apple News instead of keeping my individual news subscriptions.

On the other hand, if they offered free 2-day shipping with Apple Pay for Apple One subscribers at a bunch of premium retailers and bump up the price, you’ve got the first competitor to Amazon Prime.

Look up desk pads, I have one that covers the majority of my 5’x30” desk!

My Corsair PSU is an old 750W and they were synonymous with accessible modular power supplies for a while. Made them last longer by design when that wasn’t a given design choice. All in one heatsink units are more popular now, but they used to be the only option in that category too.
