if anyone is afraid of this happening to them, I'd recommend the deterministic nix installer. it has an atomic installation process where each step is reversible with the uninstaller. This is uniquely a macos issue since the setup is a bit different to other OS's in terms of creating a read only filesystem for the nix store, but the determinate installer was built to fix any worries of that happening.
They donate a lot of code back to the engine, w4 has already contributed an entire directx renderer to the engine that they needed to build out for their console porting efforts anyway.
Chicken and egg problem, no games worth porting because games look at the engine and are like "oh you can't do console? i'm out". Part of making godot an industry standard is first making sure it has industry standard capabilities.
ehhh its a cute name playing off of the "murder" of crows theme, I like it, makes the theme feel cohesive. Also I don't get the focus on making sure you have the perfect SEO for every side project, seems like a good way to not get anything done.
it increases security per unit of energy significantly making the amount of energy needed to secure the network orders of magnitude smaller than bitcoin. its also asic resistant, and having a lower barrier to entry makes it so the people with 0 cost basis just filling up extra space on their drive will outcompete & push out any large data farms increasing decentralization as well.
they're targeting 20 tps which is roughly 5x bitcoin and pretty similar to ethereum's tps. they're planning to rely on layer 2 scaling because bram thinks sharding is a bad idea when it comes to security. it's definitely not competing with s3, just trying to be better than bitcoin in terms of decentralization, power usage & programmable money with chialisp & colored coins.
nope lbry uses their own custom torrent-like protocol on top of their own fork of bitcoin with their own weird python lbry daemon which communicates with a javascript frontend which is pretty much completely centralized in the browser version. Even the desktop version relies on centralized features like comments system.
