You had better be careful. You mix "them" with
him" in your description. You have to make sure that each and everyone of the individuals that you are thinking about taking action, is based on HIS or HER INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCE ETC. Not a lot of precedents for this kind of action on a group without looking like you are trying to keep them from just vesting. It will go better if you have their transgressions OTR.
A lot of useful insights that I will use the next time I need a printer. This comment is totally off topic- I have noticed the same thing about external cameras for my desktop computer. Never needed one until the pandemic forced Zoom et al on all of us. Any comments?
After reading all of this, it might be time for me to wean myself from LI, so any tips you may have would be great. I run a small pro bono (sometime contracts) for apprenticeships and workforce development in disadvantaged working class and BIPOC communities. Revenue not so much as the networking is the thing that seems to be my biggest challenge without LI
Since this has leaned pretty much into Indo-European languages, here is something that is not as well known. Indigenous languages in the Americas were nearly extirpated by colonialism. Take a look.

You have some really responses to your question. There may be more coming, but with what you have here, it is a goldmine of great anecdotes, stratgies, tactics and facts.

Unfortunately Dr. Reik the principal investigator, has failed to mention in his research on other experiments that Cambridge has used HeLa cells for research for decades, reaping huge financial benefits and recognition from research using the cells. Wikipedia excerpt states that, "Henrietta Lacks was an African American woman whose cancer cells were taken in 1951 without her or her family's permission and used to generate the HeLa cell line – the world's first immortalised human cell line." So with all the kudos the and his fellow researchers deserve, I think that it high time for Cambridge and others to acknowledge the research started from HeLa. There is no indication by the way, the researcher used HeLa cells. I am making the point in general that a lot of research at Cambridge and other research institutions have been bought and paid for by HeLa.
In my experience, this is normal for some companies. I am a little surprised by your experience with Microsoft, but the others are relatively new, which means they have limited experience in interviewing and reviewing applicants for senior positions. They would do better by outsourcing the process to an HR IT headhunter. That way, they can keep working and let the hiring process sit with the consultant.
Before the internet, I was in radio, non-commercial, listener supported radio, sponsored through the Pacifica Foundation, at KRAB Radio. It was a great time for radio, I just wish there was a way to implement a model like that to the web. I know, I am crazy to even think that this is something that can be done. LOL
