Why? Different people react differently to things. Especially psychologically. What might be merely uncomfortable for one person could push another person over the edge.

Yes, I definitely think that would be possible. Mullvad clearly lays out what information is stored and for how long depending on the payment method you use[1] and there are clearly trade-offs. If you want the most "anonymous" account possible it's going to take a few days while you wait for an envelope of cash to get to them. For other users it might not be a big deal to use a faster payment method. The important thing is disclosure so users can make their own assessments about their personal risks/rewards.

If you can handle some basic web dev you can do this yourself and embed the JS/CSS animation right in the SVG file: https://youtube.com/watch?v=S6P_N2JWSrc

It’s actually a bit easier than basic web dev because you don’t even need to know flexbox!

I’m not really the type to fuss over wine glasses but I was gifted a set of Veuve Cliquot champagne flutes (similar to the glasses that come in this set[1]) and they really are beautiful. The shape of the glass makes the bubbles fizz to the top in this tiny perfect spiral in the center of the glass. You can tell they were designed by someone who cares about champagne and pays attention to its presentation.

I would imagine the Switch gyro controller must be pretty close to the tech needed to make VR games?

> and most societies at most times in most places in history seem to have done just fine managing “the commons” as a shared resource through social compact and peer pressure.

What? Clean water, clean air, deforestation, overfishing, noise pollution. There are infinite externalities that have been shifted onto the commons that social compact and peer pressure haven’t (and arguably won’t) solve.

Women can and do participate in “ribbing” and understand things like jokes and context but sexual harassment is not the product of women misunderstanding or misinterpreting men ribbing them. The difference between ribbing and sexual harassment is pretty clear: the things that are said aren’t said in good fun. They’re said to intimidate, embarrass, and demean.

> How do things get this far?

The tone at the top.

I think maybe I was (am?) reading too much into it because when I initially read that paragraph it just left me more confused! I guess I don’t really understand how the accounting of it works because they called it a “revenue share” which made me think one sale would result in:

$80 in developer revenue

$20 in Amazon revenue

But it also said the AWS credits will be based off of the developer’s revenue and judging by the “equivalent of 90%” it would seem that Amazon sees the transaction as more like:

$100 in developer revenue

($20) in developer expenses to list on the app store resulting in

$20 in Amazon revenue

But I wouldn’t consider that revenue sharing?

Sorry, for some reason I’m still having a hard time understanding. If a developer with less than $1 million in revenue sells an app on Amazon’s app store for $100 Amazon would get $30 and the developer would get $70 from each sale but now Amazon will get $20 and the developer will get $80 plus $10 in AWS credit from each sale. Am I understanding that correctly?

Could you do pull-ups before you bought the bar? I’m always so tempted to get one because I so badly want to be able to do a pull-up. I’d be so pumped if I could just do one. But I have no upper body strength to speak of and getting to a pull-up seems nearly impossible so I never pull the trigger on buying the bar.

This is the second FortNine link I've come across in this thread and, even though I have less than zero interest in anything related to motorcycles, the channel is awesome! Surprisingly interest content.

No, implicit to the point is that what the CDC/FDA did was follow the ongoing drug safety monitoring protocols that have long been established for Emergency Use Authorization.

Doesn't a drop in vaccine appointments make sense given the (presumably) reduced supply of total available vaccines when J&J was paused?

> So my point is, I think demand would be higher and concerns lower if you just made it available and let people make their own choice.

That's already how it works, though. Everyone is free to decide for themselves whether or not they'd like to be vaccinated.

Why do you see it as mutually exclusive? I don’t think it’s really an either/or situation. It’s both.

Do you know when the company/Rogas first came under investigation?

What’s absolutely stunning to me is the (former) CEO quote in the article says the company was under SEC investigation for fraud as early as November of last year. And given that the DOJ complaint alleges the fraud occurred between January 2019-February 2020 I would be inclined to believe it. (Fraud doesn’t tend to just stop of it’s own accord.)

So was the investigation disclosed to Lightspeed and they decided to invest anyway? Who on earth would invest with someone currently under investigation for a scheme to defraud investors? And if it wasn’t disclosed, why not? Did that not come up at all during due diligence?

I wonder what that means for companies like Peloton. I can imagine an Apple Watch and a small "smart" bike trainer[1] would be infinitely more practical and affordable for most people and still allow Apple users to track all of the same metrics as Peloton.
