Linux was built in an era of fierce resistance from the corporate world, so what is there to save today when everything runs or touches OSS in one way or another and most decent developers will make an OSS contribution, to claim on their CVs?
As much of a fan of Open Source as I am, I've come to realise the OSS has killed indie development. Many OSS projects are built for free to show as proof of skills when applying for jobs, with the outliers being cash cows for major cloud service providers.
In the “old world” cities like London, Paris, Berlin and others are facing the eact same problems, with or without those overcrowded, overpriced buses you mentioned.
In western europe these small stores, called off license in the uk, are usually cheap and low quality. Often selling counterfit products or expired food.
Engineers are a rare thing among developers. Most are self taught and have no clue what they are doing, they just “do” stuff. They immitate what they see on stackoverflow or reinvent the wheel.
Interesting. So you actually find the news to be a reliable source of information when deciding to buy stocks and voting? I mean, there are no bias or clueless writers out there?
A force for good indeed, while Germany and to some extent France have regulations in their favour enforced, the rest of the EU is slowly ground into a slow death.
Europe is already overwhelmed by regulation, and this is another good example. I'm not surprised either that many fellow Europeans agree with it - if they could, they would have the government control every aspect of their lives.
My thoughts exactly. From what I gather, salaries in the Toronto area are around half those in London/UK, and the tech is seriously lagging behind. Let alone their mindset in hiring "workers".
